Yes, this is pretty normal. My Android phone regularly goes online to update apps, check email, pick up news headlines and weather info, etc.
I have an app installed on my handset called My Data Manager (Free) which lets me know how much data I've used via the mobile network and WiFi each month and what it was used for.
Not that data usage really bothers me because I have uncapped Internet at home and on my mobile.
Assuming all Android handsets are the same, you can switch off Wifi or mobile data access by pulling down the menu from the top of the screen and disabling them individually.
Just curious as to what this is on my android phone, want to learn what things are/do
I added the data app mentioned above and for today there is a DrmDialog with a green android icon that has used 4MB (73%) just today.
Its my first android phone, only got it today, I've been running it through the home wifi network
Apps added - my data manager, swagbucks tv, weather one from met office, bbc olympics one0
