Think cookoo has some very good interesting advice . To me a car goes forward and backwards and a machanic is about the same as a solicitor (spends more time working out the bill than working on the job)

update -waited all day for call off garage to say trucks fixed come and pick it up didnt happen so just rung them he said "supplier cant get the replacement pump so at a stand still, not even bosch have one in stock and im a bit busy so ill give you the number and you can phone them as im getting no joy find out whats what then phone me back and tell me im not very happy about all this as truck is stuck on my ramp and i cant get others on it so its costing me money"

i declined his offer to phone supplier and pointed out he was the contracted mechanic if he choices to use a back street cowboy supplier then thats his choice and has now become his promblem , i suggested he tell them he will be getting charged £240 pday loss of earning and account put on hold until this is resolved and he wont be getting his large cheque at the end of the month as i will be using it contra to my invoice and as a direct result he will be putting there account on hold and not paying them either

i told him to get the part elsewhere fit it and charge them (off the monthly bill) he said he hasnt got time

unreal just want truck back repaired and find a new mechanic asap

Charge them Per Hour what they charge you . But a reasonable chance for them to sort out their mess. keep us posted

    Sounds like a diabolical mechanic.

update -waited for promised call first thing this morning didnt arrive so just popped down there truck on ramp part fitted second time was a recon (even though i stated i wanted a brand new part on he said that would of been 2k) a part has broken inside the pump and damaged the outer casting they cant repair the pump so a new one has been ordered off bosch will be delivered 2morra am and fitted saturday morning, he had the cheek to say my attidude stunk as i had threatened to claim back loss of earnings and moaned about it. He then had to leave as he had other customers to attend to
i apologised for moaning and mentioning loss of earnings told him his standards had slipped to a level that needed to be questioned wether to deal with him again and i was sorry that after 7 years of work i wasnt even worth a phone call, i pointed out i could see he was busy but then most people tend to be busy and ive got better things to do than drive down the garage to find out whats going on, and suggested he get his receptionist to stop reading the morning paper and earn her money also as he had no time to speak to me i could just put my bill in writing recorded delivery if he prefer and when acount has not been settleed at end of month i to would be far to busy to speak to him, i then left saying i was running late for a important meeting with his competetor regarding a mechanical contract
