BB, I think it was me who said about 2cm. The fundal height is rather imprecise measurement, the same person can easily measure bigger or smaller, as I imagine, so ideally wouldn't worry. Also, it depends on the position the baby is in as well. So, have a cup of tea and biscuit, and just enjoy the extra scan!

Woke up with the back pain and the lower abdominal pain. It seems to have got better now, OH even gave me a quick back massage before he left to work. Hopefully I won't end up calling hospital with all my pains and aches, as I think they would just laugh me. Have manicure and pedicure later today, that will be nice to just relax a bit more.

Glad you're feeling better about things this morning BB. As gin says fundal height is known for being inaccurate.

Enjoy your manicure and pedicure gin

33 weeks today! I could be holding my baby boy in 4 weeks time :D Though I doubt I'll be that lucky and go the full 40 weeks and beyond. But it's getting really exciting, just need to get cracking with buying the piles of stuff left to get.

    Congratulations Laura :)
Good luck natwesty and Dashikii :)
*hugs* to everyone not feeling particularly well.

Gave another urine test yesterday so hopefully get the results early next week but on the plus side my iron is still within the normal range though at the lower end so I don't need to take iron tablets :)

Seeing my neurologist today so hoping to get a load of information and guidance regarding labour and after birth - it's likely to be mostly don't worry about it advice but if I can get it in writing I can hopefully stop the obs and midwives going OTT and stressing me out.

My inlaws are taking me to the appointment - it makes me feel kinda pathetic considering it's a 20 minute train ride and a 10 minute bus ride to the hospital and I live next to the train station at this end with the bus stop directly outside the train station at the other end. But as I get tired just walking into town it's probably a good idea - I'm trying to be sensible rather than overly independent which doesn't come easy :p

Went to the bump to 1 year group at my local children's centre yesterday which was great :) There are 3 of us expecting and all in the first 2 weeks of June and a few who've had babies in the last month so it was lovely to chat about everything and anything :) I don't know where the 2 hours went. I also put my name down for when the centre runs their next baby first aid course as I thought it could be useful - though hopefully I'll never have to use the skills.
  • Good luck Natwesty and Dashikii for this weekend :) Looking forward to hearing your news of mummy cuddles :D

Enjoy your treatments Gin, hope they relax you and the pains ease off some more

BB I would echo what others have said and try not to worry too much about the measurements, there are lots of factors that can affect it including position of baby... I measured 26 at 29 weeks and 31 at 32 weeks so on paper bubs had jumped from 25th percentile to over 50th in 3 weeks! MW said it is probably due to the fact that he was transverse when first measured but head down at second measuring, she wasn't concerned :)

Am ordering cot today - have been putting it off for weeks but starting to get anxious that we don't have it now so am just going to get it out of the way!

Have to go shopping later today and have loads of housework to catch up on - I actually feel very energetic atm so am going to crack on!

((hugs)) to anyone not feeling well :)

Scan this morning went well, although Baby was sitting akwardly so no pics.

DEFINITELY a boy.. quite clear to see!! Placenta has moved so no need for C Section and he's measuring a few days bigger than my 10.6.12 due date so could be a big baby! (My NHS Board doesn't give weights of babys.. I did ask!)
  • Aww glad scan went well Kelda :)

Have ordered cot now and it has started raining quite heavily here so going to put off going shopping while it stops, will amuse myself with some housework instead :p

Glad the scan went well Kelda :)

I've got lots of housework to do today to get the house as tidy for guests this weekend.

Glad the scan went well and there's no need for a c-section :) Estimating weight from scans is a bit hit and miss anyway. My mum was told that my sister was going to be at least 8lb 5oz and was really long so not to buy newborn clothes. She was actually 6lb 10 and we had to do a mad dash to get her some clothes to fit. Whereas someone I met at the hospital thought her baby was only going to be 7lb and turned out to be 9lb.
I may ask at my 36 weeks scan as baby will be almost cooked by then but I think they're likely to tell me they can't tell.

Jovichick, which cot did you buy?
I don't know why but I felt terrified when I ordered ours though the feeling settled once it had arrived. Has anyone else had the same feeling?
  • MrsBryan - know how you felt; when I went for my first scan I was sat in the waiting room with my OH and it was clear that I was the oldest person in there! Most of the others were 20 years and under, and their partners of an obviously similar age! At 36, I have already realised that I will be one of the 'older' ones at antenatal classes and even through to school days! My Dad was 36 years old when I was born and even though he is v. young at heart (and a brilliant hands on Dad when I was growing up) I have to admit that I was conscious that he was older then my friends parents. OH is 8 years younger than me as well (and I'm only 8 years younger than his parents!) so I already feel conscious about being an older Mum!

Gemma E/Emsbet - thank you both for your posts on bump size, I thought I was going mad! Some days I look at bump and think it's massive, other days I think it's quite tidy and in proportion. My OH is always telling me that it is huge, but I was quite small before so in comparison I guess he's right! I certainly feel like I have swallowed a space hopper! When they found out I was pregnant the first thing two (larger) ladies at work (independantly of each other!) said to me was "oooh, you're going to get fat!" One even rubbed her hands in glee at this prospect! It was quite off-putting at the time, but I am really trying hard not to get hung up on my size and just concentrate on the fact that it's baby's home and they need it to be just right!
Sexymouse - I find my bump looks different when I am standing up/lying down too! At least when I am standing up though you can tell that it is a baby bump now, there's that definite shape in place! had to laugh the other night though cos OH thinks he can see a dark line forming from my belly button and was telling me to look but I just couldn't see over my belly!
Dashiki - best of luck, hope all goes well for you.
Natwesty - my best friend was diagnosed with the same condition last year and was taken in to be induced as well. She ended up having an emergency caescarean - not from the condition but from a different complication - but was really well looked after throughout and even though baby was 3-4 weeks early she was perfectly healthy and fine. Hope all goes well for you x

Hi to everyone else and hope you are all feeling great today!
  • I went with this one in the end:

    http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_2472_10751_-1_45694_136170_10001_14687

We have a cotbed that we used for DS and would have been using that but somewhere along the way (during one of our 4 moves in the last 7 years), one of the sides was damaged and we can only use it as a toddler bed now so the plan is to have bubs in the cot until he can climb/walk and then move him over to the cotbed. Was very  about that :p

Only thing with this one I am unsure about is the mattress but figured I will see what it looks like and if I end up replacing it, its not the end of the world :)
