Oh nursery pics, thanks for posting, love the wall stickers, and Gin, that dresser is a beauty! Love that I'm not the only one counting down to the escape from work!
We have gone for an olive green on the nursery walls, nice and relaxing colours, wood floor as I'm allergy conscious, and minimal furniture as we don't have space for a wardrobe we went for a toy chest which is used for blankets and clothes until she gets old enough to have lots of toys! It needs a little 'something' extra so we might go for some nice bright bunting or something as we haven't gone for a cot bumper or rug or anything yet.
I have tried to be practical about the space as I tend to over clutter spaces, but if Gilly is right about the gifts we should be expecting then we may need a whole other room for stuff as I'm already running out of space with just the basics!0 -
Van - glad baby Nicholas is being a good boy. your nursery looks lovely too. he is one lucky baby!! hope you are recovering well. xxx:)DS1 10yrs

With the nursery stuff (I'm on an anti-pink crusade as well) - we got some lovely animal felty/3D wallstickers from B+M of all places - so it's kind of ended up being a jungle/animal theme inadvertently - with pale pale yellow walls and since we had fitted shelves in an alcove - I've painted them an assortment of bright colours and used those colours throughout (the wonders of 2 for £2 paint tester pots)... Dunelm Mill had some gorgeous little jungle canvases about 15 cmx15 cm - we've got them on one wall and the sleepy owls ones from there on another wall - if I'd have had to go for an actual "everything from one range" theme it would have been their owls stuff cos it's adorable.
I want some more shelves up for things like soft toys (since the greyhound keeps trying to nick 'em - she likes teddies) but the walls in our house are so wretched to get stuff into I don't dare risk it... haven't even risked stripping the woodchip in that room off since I think half the plaster will come off with it and we can't afford the cost and mess of a full reskim of the room - figure I'll worry about all that stuff when she's older and wanting to exercise some creative direction herself (and probably bugging us to paint all the walls black).
Amymo - I can't find a rug I like that's not stupidly overpriced ANYWHERE for in ours! It's been driving me nuts for months!
Ours is jammed at the moment since it's got the pram up in there, things like swingy chair and bouncer that we've borrowed and don't want to bring downstairs yet, the moses basket's still hiding away in there - so it looks dreadfully cluttered but it's not really.... but the joys of having a huge fitted cupboard in there to hide the mess know no bounds!
For toys what we've got downstairs are those cube type coffee tables from Ikea that I stained to match the rest of our furniture (99% of the house is Leksvik stuff) - they did have all my sewing things in, now they've got one with a spare change mat and baby change stuff to not have to run up and down the stairs constnatly, and the other one currently has a mountain of stockpiled wipes, nappies, toiletries and stuff... longer term it'll end up being where I chuck all the toys on an evening so the place looks tidy with minimal effort.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Thanks everyone, the stickers are really easy to use and fairlY inexpensive (£20) they were from www.decowall.co.uk if I am allowed to put up the linky?
Loving the changing station Gin, we don't have room for one due to the stair riser so we are using as one instead. I have the stool from the glider chair to perch on so won't be bending over too much.
I'm planning on a couple of baskets downstairs for toys etc as Elvis gets older, the whole pick it up and chuck it in the basket routine - quick tidying
Has anyone heard from Emsbet recently? I hope she is OK!
I'm now 2nd after the boldies and it feels really rather close! Although it probably feels even closer for Emmylou :rotfl:Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
Well I'm back from the hospital. The scan shows the growth has slowed down a bit which is good. Mr Wrigglechops currently weighs just under 5 pounds!!! My blood pressure is quite high today and I have something in my wee so they read me the riot act about calling them straight away if I get any swelling, headaches or visual disturbances. Got another appointment for next week.DS1 born June 2000

Hey Dizzi, did you go for the Leksvik nursery furniture then? That's what we went for as all our bedroom furniture is in that range and we really like it
that said they're discontinuing it so we had a fight on our hands to get the toy chest, hadn't thought about our terrier being a soft toy fan, might have to work on the yours/mine with toys in the next few months!
Know what you mean about rugs, we need a biggun and love the Designer Guild kids ones but cannot justify the price! All the others weve seen look poor quality or too small though :mad:0 -
Hmm wondered about Emsbet too, will check out the other threads0

In the end we've gone for white and basic furniture in the nursery - easier to clean, easy to match stuff to and the odds are when they start school they'll plaster it all with stickers from everywhere anyway - so we'll wait until they're older before getting proper "posh" stuff in there!
Our own wardrobes are actually the Leksvik nursery ones - they fitted much better than their adult ones into our room!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
