Who called the bloody grammer police?!

Nobody...it's a SPELLING error. Your posts can often make little sense in your haste to be first to reply.
  • **UPDATE 29th Feb 2012**

Today was the delivery day of the bed with the bed i wanted swaped out with the one i didnt want.

Anyway It never arrived:mad: and i was not informed. I had to phone up Dreams to find out. It turns out it wont be available earliest to 1st April  So i took the day off today for nothing. Even though I rang the last 2 weeks running to confirm that the delivery was happening today.

So they offered me 20% increase of the value of my bed for a upgrade. But there was nothing i wanted, so i suggested they give 20% off my Bed when it arrives. They refused. They did say however i was eligible for compensation once the item was delivered. I asked to speak to the supervisor but i have to wait 24 hours for the call.

Anyone i got any advice how can i play this?

    Thanks again in advance.

You were given advice originally about how to cancel under the DSRs. As far as I can see you didn't take that advice (did you, at any point, contact them in writing/email to say you wanted to cancel under the DSRs?)

Instead you did your own thing, arranging by email to get a replacement from Dreams. Now you're stuck, you have no rights to a refund on the original product, and basically you have to just wait until Dreams bother to deliver.

I bet you end up having to pay delivery twice as well!

Technically that was the spelling police.

And it's "grammar", not "grammer". :p

Although the OP probably was weary as well as wary with all the hassle he/she has had with Dreams. :(

Well i wanted to swap the bed. I wasn't advised there was anything wrong with what i was doing. What was wrong with that as opposed to canceling? Also i contacted them through phone and arranged for a Email confirmation.

You can return it under DSR, without reason as long as you inform them within 7 WORKING days beginning with the day after delivery, this has to be done in a durable means, (e-mail will suffice),

Rather than just asking them if you can return the goods, make sure that you inform them you are exercising your right to return under DSR (Distance Selling Regulations)

Still issue them cancellation notice in writing (durable form). AND get it in writing.

I'd also be weary of using the bed also -- otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if your back here next month asking for advice because they claim to have no record of this & you didn't comply with DSRs :)

You were advised by multiple people to state you were cancelling under the DSRs and that this had to be in a durable form. You ignored this advice, initially you phoned Dreams and then you went to a store.

Instead of organising a return under the DSRs you have arranged an exchange. You do not have the legal protection provided by the DSRs, you simply have the goodwill of Dreams letting you exchange. You are now at the mercy of Dreams whenever they plan to deliver. You have pretty much no recourse to cancel the new order as to do so would just leave you with the original bed you don't want.
