  • Cheers for ur message 24skins, it might sound weird to most, even my mum said 'ooh you can have a holiday now!' but the thought of airports, travelling, meeting new people or any of that fills us both with dread!! I dont drive but cant even get on a bus or train without panic-attacks galore... Im not moaning it's just the way we are and we are used to it (and very happy in our own way). On the other hand we've been able to pay off our debts, help my mum out, and give some money to our kids too - so its all good, and Ive ordered a decent telly which should arrive next week, so as far as treating ourselves goes - we def are... Thanks again - be lucky - Scott

Thanks. That's a really handy guide to have.

After 20 minutes on hold waiting for an adviser, I was able to establish what I get and why. I'm glad I understand this now.

What I didn't know is that when I move out to an adapted place of my own I will be eligible for the severe disability premium. Knowing this already eases some of the concerns I had about being able to cope on my own, I will be able to pay someone for some support *phew* It may not be much, but it could make the difference between existing and living on my own.
  • Good for you Formaldehyde-Perfume (thats quite a tag!) Nice-one
  • hi i just found out i can get severe diability premium i get pension credit dla mobility and care both high rate been on this since 2007 and nobody has had carers allowance who do i apply to

    Hi,

After some clarification regarding Premiums, lets start by explaining where I'm at and maybe someone can tell me if I or my mother qualify for any....

I get ESA Cont. (Support Grp), DLA (HM, MC); therefore since I don't get a means tested benefit I don't think I qualify for any Premiums (am I correct?)

Now my mother was getting Invalid Carers Allowance, but when she became of State Pension Age (9yrs ago) that stopped and she got her State Pension (it's not the full State Pension amount, but close).

Now would my mother qualify for the Carer Premium, since she was getting ICA? I'm not 100% sure when she first started to claim ICA, it must of been the late 80's or early 90's.

    Thanks

No, you have to live on your own to qualify for SDP

If you get state pension and AA would you qualify if you live on your own.
