Enterprise car rental

Hello everyone I am hoping you can help with this problem,
On the 24th December I booked a Vauxhall insignia hire car from enterprise for the 28th to be picked up at 8.30am. As I needed to be at a meeting 12.30
On the morning of the 28th at 07.35am I received a phone call from Enterprise car rental informing me they do not have a car for me but if I wait until 11am they can supply me a Fiat Punto.
This option was no good as my meeting was at 12.30 and its 2 1/2 to 3h drive away I could still make my hotel booking but this would be useless as the only reason for driving there was for the meeting.
As a result of Enterprise rental failing to supply the car I missed a meeting with new client (lost commission) and lost the money for my hotel room.
I have spoken to the branch manager who states he is sorry but because they were willing to supply a car there is not much I can do about it
Is this true Can I do anything

Did you attempt to get to the meeting via any other means?
Had you for example got there by train or something, you may well have a claim for the difference in cost (if it was more expensive). You may well have had a claim for consequential losses as a result of their failure.
Saying that, it sounds like a B2B contract, so what does it say about things like this in their terms.0 -
The idea was to drive down with my wife get booked in to the hotel and then I was getting picked up from the hotel. The car was for that purpose to travel from home to the hotel not work.
I would not have been able to get the train in time when I found out about not being supply with a car. I phoned the 2 other car rental company’s but with the short notice was not able to get a car.
The car was not to be used for business and I rented it as a consumer.
The money I was going to get paid when I was down there was to pay for the hotel/ petrol and food costs without that money we would not have be able to go0 -
So am I reading it right that you actually have no losses
The commission that you didnt get was going to pay for the hotel room. From your post it
siad that you were going to book in when you got there. So no loss there then. Or did you mean 'check in'
Balance the petrol cost that you didnt have to fork out for and the hire of the car cost against the hotel room cost, then what do you come up withmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
In that case it would still have been possible to achieve that if you had taken the car at 11AM but you refused it.The car was for that purpose to travel from home to the hotel not work. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I had paid in advance for the hotel room £60 non-refundable and if I had made the trip I would have made £2200

I'm not sure if it makes any difference at the end of the day but the OP claims they hired it as a private individual and not B2B hire therefore hard to say you have a business loss.0

Hi,
Just putting this in to my thinking,
You were planning to go on a trip with your wife but when you were there you got the chance to do some work which would pay money to cover your trip.
You had already booked and paid for the hotel
So as a consumer you book a car and as a result of Enterprise not fulfilling its agreed arrangement of supplying you the car you were not able to travel to the hotel thus losing the £60 also missed out on the chance of working.
Is this the case?[FONT="]

yes thats correct0

The OP said it was hired to get him and his wife to the hotel. He could have done that easily since cutoffs for hotel bookings are normally quite late. He had hours to get thereNot sure many people can complete a 2 1/2 hr journey in 1 1/2 hrs
