Yes, that ought to do it. It's so long since I registered, I've forgotten exactly how I did it. Fortunately I'd written down the answers to the security questions. ;)
Seems a bit of a palaver just to close the account!

  • Still not sure about transferring funds.
After faffing about for over an hour yesterday to finally set up a bank account to transfer the maturing funds in, I received my acceptance form, just to sign really.
however also received the telephone banking form.
this stated that if it wasn't convenient to visit a branch or access My Accounts facility this would help!!!

so yet another set of security questions to fill in.

Since we both have over the £10000 transfer limit, I was told (by phone) that we'd have to ring up and answer our on-line security details, not these telephone I.D. ones.

I'm just about to lose it.

So before I fill in yet more questions/answers I will ring up tomorrow to confirm that I do not need to fill in yet another form, to release my maturing funds.

Sometimes think I'm a an extra in an old MI5 film/dream:mad:

When (if) you've got it set up, just do the transfer in amounts under 10K on consecutive days - no phoning required.

    That's what I did.

Was that the online password, or the 'telphone banking' password?

    The link shown above says:
We offer our customers the ability to register for Telephone Password facilities. If we contact you, or you contact us, by telephone we need to check your identity before we can disclose or discuss any information about your account(s). Please note, this facility does not allow you to make withdrawals, or any account type changes, by telephone.
so is this what is used to verify a withdrawal....

Really glad I was this thread, and p*ssed off they don't either set up all this when you open the account or highlight the need for it.
  • Yes, you have to set up a Telephone Identification Set Up form.

just sent one off with my signature that enables withdrawals.

    Then
    filed in D.O.B.
and 3 other security answers plus Telephone password.

    Filled in and photocopied.

Just noticed the account matures on a Saturday:(

Now lost the will to live.

Just noticed the account matures on a Saturday:(

    Mine matured on a Sunday
The bonus was not visible online until after close of business on Monday.
The bonus addition was backdated to Sunday.
I requested closure Tuesday morning by secure message.
They rang me at lunchtime to confirm via telephone passwords.
They asked why are you closing, then where are you getting a better rate?
Cash was in my linked account by 7pm Tuesday. :)

I suppose I could have sent the secure message first thing on Monday.

If you are still trying to plan/arrange your withdrawal, it takes a week to set up the linked account. You can also do it by post. See the instructions here:
If you would like to use the on
    line withdrawal facility, then you
will first need to register your
    bank account details by
    selecting ‘Your Bank Account’ from
    the ‘My Accounts’ Home page.
    Please follow the instructions and
    read the messages carefully, that
will explain the process and the
    timescales.

If a withdrawal in excess of
    £10,000.00 is required, you will
need to telephone the office to go
    through some security questions
    and would therefore need to
    register telephone password
    details. The appropriate form
will be sent to you once you have
    registered your bank account.

The bank details could have been
added as soon as you had received
the activation key enabling you to
view your account on line. If you
    would prefer to send signed
    instructions and your passbook,
our Banking Hall can send the
    funds by faster payment provided
you quote your Bank sort code,
account number and the name of the
    bank account holder.
