i do most of my work calls on a speakerphone in a meeting room because most of them consist of listening to someone's lawyer spouting total and utter nonsense for 30 minutes, before saying "sorry, i don't agree, goodbye".0 -

The access panel is because of the type of tap. They are generally recognised as problematic because all of the gubbins live behind the wall. If you didn't want an access panel, you could use countertop taps instead.
Or if you want that pouring water vibe, then I wouldn't have stone on that very back bit - just paint even; you could much more easily hide a larger wooden panel that went from floor to hidden under the worktop.
If I were creating something like that, I'd use a worktop company. Either face the front of a bespoke MDF stand with stone, or to be more moneysaving, make it from a reclaimed table with nice legs, a proper stone worktop and a huge big up-stand like an old fashioned washstand, but for two. I'd like that. Different textures stop it looking too clinical as well.
You might end up with big baskets of fluffy towels under there to hide that sort of access panel, but if someone made me an access panel like in that picture, I'd make them do it againand write "I will not make access panels from tiles" 100 times.

wheezy, if i was to create a perfect jubilee day that would be it (except i'd pay someone else to do the dog walking, and watch something else whilst eating breakfast).
on second inspection i might fit some lunch in there as well.0 -

speakerphone!
Thank you!
Btw, your clients should get a better class of lawyer...one that can either spout nonsense more efficiently or be convincing for the half hour.:D0 -

We have loads of red ants here:(. They ruddy hurt when they bite.
You're possibly more environmentally friendly than I am, but when we had an ant problem, I encircled the house closely with ant powder like I was keeping out witches. It works!
That was before dog, I don't know if it's dog friendly either.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks doozer:D (how are you btw? And your job?)
Live the textures idea, and thankyou, going for wood for the access panel would solve my woes and i am glad its not just me who finds it gappy, in fact, i find it reassuring in particular that you do too!
I would be very happy with the wood back alternative.
I saw a great house recently where the linin fold panelled walls had those secrtet catches on to hide things like bathrooms, bat man type door ways, dh and i would love that!:D0 -

I use ant powder here, because we have crazy amounts of ants. I cannot find where they all live apart from...everywhere. But it was late last noght and i didn't fancy going out to the long barn to hunt for ant powder so googled and found cider vengar, which was right there on the work top, so used it, and cackled. It worked, and they have not come back:D0 -
chewmylegoff wrote: »what is everyone doing for the jubilee, if anything.
my plan was to sit in the house being miserable. the mrs wants to go to hyde park to watch the jubilee concert on the big screens there.
if i could design a "worst possible day ever" it would definitely include going to hyde park to watch the jubilee concert on a big screen (second worst possible day would be being eaten alive by ants).
We are doing some London. I thought we were watching the Queen and the boats from a nice place on the Thames on Sunday, but that seems to have been replaced with the offer of a box at the O2 for Guns 'n' Roses on Friday night which is also a great offer, but they probably won't start playing until early Saturday morning! I don't think I can turn that down though. I'd still like to see the Queen. I haven't seen her yet IRL from any distance.
Maybe she'd like a space in the box for Guns 'n' Roses?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
