Off up the m4 to see the parents. I bet it rains all the way and there is an accident on the way back.

    Hi Corrag, welcome :)

All this talk about planting makes me wish I had a garden and green fingers. I seem to have an innate ability for floracide - even Bob II the Unkillable Houseplant (given to me on purpose) is at death's door.

Dog Dog is beautiful LIR, such a lovely picture. Shame we can't see more of the DH who comes across as a right treasure from your posts.

Weather's a bit rank but it definitely made the ride to MK interesting. At one point I thought it was all over - a lorry right up my rear plus some roadkill spread along the A509 but it all ended well (and the rain washed most of the gunk away).

Have you turned into a closet geologist? :)

If so, I might be able to interest you in a seriously big unconformity near Shepton Mallet, which I've tried, unsuccessfully, to get my DW to visit. :( It's very exciting! There are also a couple of Neptunean dykes in the area too, although I've never seen them, so we'll have to take the British Geological Survey's word on that one. ;)

    Pretty much .... WHOOSH.
    :)
I like interesting things.... and unusual things... now, those might sometimes have big long names, but I am not a mud nerd.

    What is Inferior Oolite?

Inferior oolite is less posh than great oolite, so it may be very poor oolite indeed.

It's from the Jurassic period, which as we all know from Cockney rhyming slang, was a time of severe economic depression.

    See "Jurassic lint" = skint.;)

I'm the sort of person who might choose to visit a beach that has fossils, if it's easily achievable and not a windy day ... perchance to pick up a small one, or just take some photos. Beyond that I'd have no desire to study it, find out its name or buy a book.

I am like this with most features, oddities and curios.

I'm a fairweather searcher of interesting things.

At college I had an inspirational geology teacher. He used to set up learning about local rocks as a kind of detective scenario; a sort of "What happened here?" CSI thing.

I was good at that. I liked fitting pieces of the evidence jigsaw together and imagining scenes millions of years ago.:)

So, I did well at geology and imagined that I might take it to full degree level, but when I asked the guy whether I should, he said, "No, your maths isn't good enough." :o

So I did something else. :(

Geology never featured on any syllabus/timetable I ever encountered. At college I .... typed. It's what girls did. You typed, or you worked in the local factory, or became a hairdresser ... although hairdressing was mostly for those that couldn't read/write, so that just left me typing or the factory.

Grrrrr. I am cheating on a biscuit recipe, i chose one which is filled with nutella in order to save time and effort. I forgot our house was so cold nutella is like rock and doesn't spread over fragile bisvuit dough.

it's fine. nutella lumps is good in biscuits.

I have attempted choux pastry. Not entirely convinced. Saint Delia's recipe better be right :)
