Yeah, in the past I've stripped down many an engine, changed piston rings, swapped engines and clutches, fixed my brakes ... all sorts. The will to do this has left me now though ... but even so, you now can't find "a bloke round the corner that'll tinker with it and get it working" any more.

Another tip on the mechanic front, it describes my current one and two of the ones I've used in the past. Look in the phone book for an MOT station, find out if they also do repairs. MOT testers have to be competent to do MOTs, if you find one that does a few repairs on the side for say £40-50 labour you're quids in quentin.

So nice people, anyone got any ideas as to where in Europe I should spirit Mrs McT away to for a long weekend for her birthday?

Lisbon with a trip to Sintra.
    Nice, Eze and Monte Carlo
Portofino and the N Italy coast
    Florence
    Boston
    New York
    Washington

The last three only if you are willing to fly Club. Going there economy for 7 hours not romantic.

Loved it! Thought the words above were apt for today :)

It's a bit breezy here now but no rain yet.

Need to get out in a minute and inspect the house to see if we have any damage. I can see from my window that the neighbour opposite has had something hit a double-glazed window and break it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I think we got off lightly here. No more fence damage ( not done repairs yet, seems silly to try in this wind). The pump we turned on last night to stop it being flooded, and that has worked, and tbh, seen the field its draining on to looking wetter, though the thing is filling up at a stonking rate, just a bit slower than we are emptying it.

That was michaels... with him being a super shopper... he probably posted it on HUK :)

You mean that I missed a post about hair straighteners on this thread, and Michaels had already mentioned the Amazon ones?

Sorry, I tend to skim past hair straightener posts, as I'm rather lacking hair to straighten, my wife already has straight hair, and my daughter does insist on straightening hers sometimes but looks so much better curly.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Yes and no.
It was exceedingly brief.... michaels enquired as to whether GHDs were worth the money or if something else was as good.
