    really? seriously? FROST this morning?

I was going to start hardening tomatoes and have 4 gherkins that have popped their heads :(

I brought all my plant pots in the day before the severe winds. Not because of the winds, but because frosts were forecast. Really glad I did though.

On the greenfingered board there are a few threads about blown away greenhouses!

Frosts are forecast up to & including the weekend I think. Weather forecasts are predicting its going to be a little colder - max temps of 7 degress sat & sun.

I'm desperate to get everything back out of the house, but I'm too fearful of the frosts at the mo. I've commandeered 4 window sills, the kitchen table & part of the worktop in the kitchen. I'm getting more & more annoyed looks as its been that way for a week and a half!
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

In as much as we have George Clooney & Steve Jones frequenting this board now, yes.

I was thinking it might attract a bottle of champagne, some flowers, or a pint of Hobgoblin.

It attracted a little bit of sick up into my mouth...

I prefer the original instantly loveable doozer.:o

If you go M40/M42/M5/M6 you'll pass within half a mile of me. Much cheaper than a service station :) If you go M40/M42/M6 you'll only get as close as an 11 minute motorway ride.
    I think you'll miss LydiaJ.

I'm about 60miles north of Bristol, Wheezy. I was there on Sunday.

Indeed, the M40/M42/M5/M6 route is too far north and east to come near me. Wheezy has got me right when he did his map.

No problem, send them over. :)

The key to book keeping in my case is to have a good Excel sheet that automates as much as possible. All i do is put in my gross bill and it splits it into vat, net, totals, vat quarter and year end all by it's self. I realise this is how they all [STRIKE]should[/STRIKE] work but it seems far easier when you make your own bespoke "yearbook" rather than trying to use Sage or the likes.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I also have a numbers fetish :A

Yes yes yes. I always prefer to get excel to do what I want it to do rather than put up with some package that thinks it knows what I ought to want it to do.

Let's see how the list suits me.... My answers in red

Six feet tall - Not too worried about height, although would probably prefer average-ish rather than extremely tall/short, not least because I have a bit of a dodgy neck and don't want kissing to keep landing me back in the chiropractor's consulting room.
Muscly, toned and athletic - Doesn't really bother me
Brown eyes - Don't really mind about eye colour
Short dark hair - Prefer short hair but don't much care what colour
Smart dress sense - Hmm, I suppose so.
A beer / lager drinker - Not fussed.
Non smoker - Yes would prefer this
Wears smart jeans, shirt and a V-neck jumper - In what context? Anything reasonably well-presented will do.
Gets ready in 17 minutes - Not fussed
Stylish - Would be nice but not important
Wants a family - Only an immediate one, just like Sue
Earns £48,000 a year - Not bothered how much they earn, but want someone with responsible attitude to money.

Loves shopping - Don't want somebody who loves shopping as a recreational activity, because I don't, but one thing I did appreciate about LNE was that he was sufficiently interested in what I wore to want to come with me to have input into choosing things.
Eats meat - That would be preferable.
Clean shaven - Preferably. Beard would do. Don't like designer stubble - or any stubble, actually.
    Smooth chest - Not fussed
    Watches soaps - Not fussed
Enjoys watching football - Prefer not, but happy to accept it as long as he doesn't want me to watch it with him
Drives an Audi - Would prefer someone who drives a car of some kind, but don't care beyond that.
Educated to degree level - Not specifically fussed about his qualifications, but need someone who's not intimidated by mine!
Earns more than you - Attitude to money is more important than actual earnings.
Jokes around and has a laugh - Maybe. Want generally upbeat person, but not specifically a joker.
Sensitive when you are upset - Yes please. Also sensitive to my kids when they're upset, please.
Tells you he loves you only when he means it - Of course
Admits it when he looks at other women - Yes
Holds a driving licence - Yes.
    Can swim - Yes-
Can ride a bike - Yes
Can change a tyre - Yes, I suppose. If he can't, I'll teach him how!
Rings mum regularly- as long as it is not all the time to the point where she is dictating our lives - couldn't put it better than Sue!

Phew! Took a long time to catch up on all last night's postings. You lot were busy, weren't you?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Just got car insurance renewal through the post. £1021.

Note to husband. Do not leave the handbrake off the car ever again!

EDIT: One comparison website and we're down to £595 but I've never heard of half the insurers on this list.

Wheezy, I love your map. Can you update it with everyone's comments and repost it?

If Doozer is where you've put her, then I'm surprised. I thought she was further north and east than that (but not as far as Jelly). I had no idea Jonny was over my side of the country. lir is further south than that - has she said so already? I'm losing track. She's due south of me and sort of level with the middle of the Bristol channel.

Any more men want to compare themselves with the so-called ideal list? And has anybody got a list of what men are supposed to be looking for, so us girls can see how we measure up, or otherwise?

Look at who the Underwriters are, not the Insurer's, as often they're only Front men i.e. Hastings Direct - Underwriters are AXA

If you need to know who are the better Underwriters give us a shout.

I had similar. Got a renewal which was way too much imo. Did a comparison, & a) didn't know most of the companies, and b) recieved a telephone call almost immediately from the top one or two trying to talk me into taking out the cover!

Are you sure about the clean bit? From the back of white vans I've seen, the opposite may be true!
