Personally, I would just take a respected source's word for what it is. It doesn't seem a particularly useful calculation. After all, no one will be taking a holiday there anytime soon.
Sadly, when your class have done a past exam question that involves calculating the temperature of the sun, you have to read each person's version, however tedious that gets.
One of the questions was about a blue giant star - much much much bigger than the sun. One of my A2 students has calculated its surface area as about half a football pitch. The right answer should have been 10,000,000,000,000,000 times as big. Anybody might make an arithmetical mistake of the kind she's made, but they are supposed to check their answers. How can she not have noticed that her answer's not exactly plausible? :wall:
ETA Marking finished now!Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I always find these pictures "grounding"...0

What actually is that number? This has been a bumper week for you Lydia
Still on the contact lenses trials and I am now on +1 and +1 and they seem right.
The girl was very good but she was just filling in sadly, anyway so I'm trailing the monthly (keep in for 30 days) ones and they want me to call back in a week.
They are £16 pm which is cheaper than I imagined :money:0 -

So we are a grain of sand against that largest known sun which in turn is like a grain of sand in the universe and gawd knows what the universe is a grain of sand against.

There's been a LOT of UFO videos in recent months/years. Including one that turned up on a live News outside broadcast.
Wonder where they're watching us from.0 -
I'm sure I heard on the radio tonight that Unite didn't think there would be a petrol drivers strike this Easter.
Of course there doesn't have to be one. The goverrnment can talk up any rumours and save you the bother.
When I strike I lose money (that's part of the deal). These guys have made the point about how necessary they are without any cost to themselves. I've nothing against them but i envy them.;)
I don't envy the government; if this was a plan to drown out the cash for access scandal, it's made them look like even bigger chumps. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
