I was thinking possibly a joke but then I thought may be a Murano?!

murano is massive! Even the qashqui is too big. This is second car so criteria was that I didn't need a big engine or boot but enough room for shopping etc. I also find a higher seating position and automatic more comfortable to drive. (I have had back probs in the past.) going up to a 1.6 engine was the compromise, my previous car was a Honda jazz 1.4. Luckily I did because I have ended up driving up and down the motorway to parents, something that I never envisaged doing on my own when I bought it.

I figure that now there is a few on the road and at least 3 white ones within a mile of me it's safe to admit.

When I first bought I was the first in the area, so kept quiet.

I like them in white and the black. H categorically hates the back of them, so it was out for me. I've ordered a new diesel car and am hoping to get more than 32.5mpg out of this one. Like yours, it's a crossover. It says 54.3mpg but I'll probably get 32.6 knowing me. Have to solve my own heavy foot problem, I think.

Should I take my shoes off Lydia, or am I ok just to wipe my feet?

If the thread is anything like my RL house then the carpet's already past being worried about. But then of course my kids don't come on the thread, so maybe it's still reasonably unspoilt underfoot in here. (It's a good thing I don't like the carpets in my place - entire house in varying shades of beige - because I'm able to be relaxed about them getting trashed. I'll recarpet once DD is old enough not to spill stuff on the new ones.)

Would it be cheaper to build a two storey extension instead of building two separate ones?

I considered a combination of single storey rear extension with loft conversion for "house 3" until the surveyor said it probably wasn't structurally strong enough for the loft conversion, and that anyway my ideas would make the property too big for the size of the rooms in the original bit, and make it all weird and unbalanced. A two storey rear extension was my first idea for that property, though, until the planners said it would be out of the question because of the way a bend in the road made the rear windows face towards next door's garden.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

No. We did have a chat about it. H liked it a lot but it's mainly my car in that he already has one of his own that I don't like to drive because it's massive. The front is pretty but it's still too big for me; I prefer them on the smaller side, I did like the Juke for that reason too.

I saw a tiny car yesterday... went to look at the badge, but I was with somebody who was irritated that I'd delayed them getting into my car by 5 seconds already ... and so wasn't sure what it said to be honest.

Fully formed, but tiny.... said something about Micro on the back I think.... I'll do some Googling of images and see if I can suss it out.
  • We have a Fiat Bravo or Brava - never can remember which it is. 1.6 litre engine, very comfy seats, 2 doors, fun and nippy to drive, easy to park, and never breaks down or needs money spending on it.

  • Best pics are on the Daily Mail web site BUT:

Unlike the map published in the Daily Mail, the ship swerved towards Giglio, perhaps as an attempt to overtake another ship immediately in front of it - perhaps to "salute" the island (or to play silly b*gg*rs putting a wash into Giglio harbour). However the video shows that the ship was already slowing down from about 20 mph to 15 mph as it approached Giglio (just look at the speed of the ship it was trying to "overtake").

The captain was living it up in the dining room/bar and the bridge was the responsibility of the "first mate" or what ever he is called mow that James Onedin is not in charge.

Possibly the first mate forgot what he was doing or switched back to "cruise control" to go for a leak (all puns intended).
At the last moment the ship was put hard right hand down (swung to the starboard) but it was too late to avoid collecting a big chunk of broken off rock; however the ship continued to pirouette clockwise and ended up facing the direction it had come and gratefully lay down on its side.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I was toying with saying last week that I was pleased we hadn't had a festive / new year drama this year. I guess this is it. Although any tragedy is dreadful, thank goodness it wasn't a whole island or country again this year. I hope they find the missing people soon. It's horrid.
