In answer to the last posts on the other thread, my avatar came before the car. I was looking for something girlie that was related to silvercar, just because a lot of posters assume someone with a name with the word 'car' in it must be male.

So the avatar may well be a micra or a beetle, it isn't my car because my car didn't exist in 2005.

Amused at what peeps think I may drive, you are all wrong so far.

    Mornin!

Should I take my shoes off Lydia, or am I ok just to wipe my feet?

michaels, if it is permitted development (you need to check your cubic meterage to know) then I think if you start the work on the roof before you put in for PP then that work falls clearly under the permitted development and they can't consider it at all to complain about.

Personally, I'd put in PP for the lot anyway as it's then very clear when you come to sell that everything is legit. Sometimes recently done work that needs PP done with work that doesn't, has the potential to confuse buyers and their solicitors). The planners can't turn down something that falls under permitted development if it was in your PP drawings, they'd pass it under Permitted Development regardless of how many objections you get. Either way, they will be taking into account that loft extension when they consider the downstairs extension. Would it be cheaper to build a two storey extension instead of building two separate ones?

The target for objections is 21. We had 21 objections to a lot of internal changes and a garage which ended coming under the new Permitted Development rules back in 2008. I've said this before I think, but my favourite objection was that the drive was 'at a dangerous 90 degree angle to the road'.

sorry to use technical terms but the battery is 'fooked'

Is it a lithium or more likely the older cheaper nicad which don't last forever, suffer from memory effect and overcharging and don't take at all kindly to being dropped.

Generally it is cheaper to get a new drill than a new battery.
    Right, done the last posts.

Any one know anything about drills? Ours kept grinding to a halt today.. The battery seemed to run out of charge really quickly and just now only managed to get ten screws in out of first battery. The last post has one fully in screw in it and two half done ones, we have been using six per post......the screws are one hundred and twenty mm long.
    I think....

I figure that now there is a few on the road and at least 3 white ones within a mile of me it's safe to admit.

When I first bought I was the first in the area, so kept quiet.

Mornin? I think you and DH need to take the DIY a bit more serriously...

Thanks for the thoughts on PD, viewed the property yesterday and it definitely needs more than just a coat of paint to get it up to any standard. The garage is very rubbish with probably asbestos roof so not sure about keeping it as it is half behind the house down a shared drive.
