... the amounts of money they were talking about today were larger than I'd previously been led to expect - like more than twice as much - so I am finding that the temptation to spend it in my head has flared up again. Must not do that. Must not. Must not. Must keep reminding myself not to. Must carry on with life with my finances as they are now. The money is not guaranteed, and even if I do get it, it may not be for years and years because the issue of liability is very complicated in this case. I'm not going to say any more about that on an internet forum, though.
Yeah, they'll go in high, other side will laugh and splutter and shoot low ... then eventually they'll come up with a figure .... so it's best to assume it's either not a lot, or half what they are suggesting.

It's difficult to see what costs could occur in the future as you've no idea what'll happen and you're second guessing what might've happened.

    It's all guesswork and difficult.

    :(

Sorry to hear that re the pest Pastures. Is there a way of ignoring PMs from certain people, or blocking them access to your PM box?
Not that bothered.... not responding seems to work well :)

Remember that my 'disability' actually helps in these instances. If I've deemed somebody is a fool I have no feelings of guilt at not responding.... indeed, responding is a difficult thing for me in ANY PM, so not responding is lovely.

I have a PM at the moment from an NP that I need to answer but I need to clear out my inbox first as I'm up to the limit again. Hopefully they will read this and know I'm not ignoring them:o. I'm v bad at spring cleaning my pm inbox.

There is a cook book with recipes that could be made with no more than 4 ingredients, I bought it for DS when he went to uni.

My freezer is full of single portions left over from cooking family meals.

Yes, those ar the freezer meals that imo work best. I willocasionally batch cook stuff but thatvtends to work better for big hectic families, where as the single yummy portion can be a real treat....:j

Freezer life....our stuff is in their longer than three to six months. Sometimes it lasts a year ....um, or so....we have some spinach that moved with us and a lot of stilton from chrstmas befoe this last one....its ok, i wouldn 't use it as a table cheese, but its still fine for cooking with/crumbling.
It's still taking up space though isn't it .... and you can see it every time you open that door.
Re ten meals....cook less of iit in the first place! If you use half a pack of mince for chilli, you can use half for some burgers, or meatballs for spaghetti. i would even consider freezing the in portions so i could do something as the mood took me from the meat.
The trouble with that is I use a small pack to start with, then add in a tin of red kidney beans, a medium onion, tin of tomatoes. So if I used half a pack I'd then be wondering what to do with half a tin of red kidney beans and half a tin of tomatoes :)
Mac cheese i cook to the amount from frozen cheese! So backwards to you! The cheese can also then be used in mash, for croqueetes, on burgers,
The trouble with mac cheese is it uses milk and I don't buy milk. If I had milk (which I don't) then I can make mac cheese instantly as I make the cheese sauce in a microwave in 2 minutes flat. So actually, it's easier for me to just buy a reduced "serves 1" macaroni cheese every now and then. My mac cheese is met with utter surprise that you can make a cheese sauce/dish that's so tasty in a microwave so quickly. I made it 5x last year as the old was an audience and a sibling ... and it was at the old's house and the old has milk.
Make your baguette sometime when you are settled again....moving in treat? It sounds yummy!
    I could do .... won't though will I :)

I think there was a splash of mayo in there too probably ... maybe some pickle.

I do like salad cream and cheese.

LinkdIn - never used, OH is on it and regrets it, he keeps getting emails from people he doesn't want to speak to.

FriendsReunited - on the odd occasion I've nosed what old school friends are doing, but not with any intention of getting in touch.

Facebook - current friends and young relatives.

Oh dear... and I'm already sitting here in tears thinking of all the dead people I've known and stuff. I had planned a trip back to where I used to live, before I got caught up in all the "ill old" stuff.... and now I am looking at my future again I had another go at finding old friends to contact and already discovered two are dead.

    Everybody's dying :(

And then I wonder how long I've got left.

Sounds totally normal for your stage in the grieving process.

Every twinge I get, I'm convinced I've got some inherited lurgy.

I hope so, but I haven't really got a clue. I don't think anyone has any idea how long this is going to take, actually.

Martin's written an article about uni fees saying it's not a good idea for parents to pay them unless they've got shedloads of money, because under the new system lots of graduates won't end up paying off their whole student loans before they get written off anyway, so paying the fees with cash could mean you end up paying more. So it might be better to let the kids take out student loans, but then give them money for a deposit on a house or something instead. So I'll wait and see what the financial landscape looks like in 7 years' time when DS is 18.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)
