I don't have any nail varnish, think the last time I had any might have been back in the early to mid eighties.
My make up and general beautifying stuff amounts to - lipstick, eye liner and eye shadow. I used to use foundation when I was in corporate world but that had to stop when I developed contact dermatitis, since then, the skin on my face does not take nicely to having lots of lotions and potions on it. I can't even use a face cream but then, it didn't do my nan any harm, at the age of 90, she had no wrinkles at all....we're not a wrinkly family, you wouldn't believe my mum is going to be 70 this year, she has no wrinkles (and she doesn't use lots of products either). We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

I've never done anything like manicures or filing or anything with cuticles (disgusts me .....)
I am not much into 'products' and make-up but I do have manicures. For days afterwards I am always slightly surprised to catch a glimpse of coloured polish. The nails look elegant and cared for and are at odds with the rest of me. In my mind though I think the painted nails cast a sophisticated glow over the rest of me....and I do feel better about myself.
(the cuticle bit is cringe making)0 -

I'm not sure Patrick Moore is the best example for you to use...

Where is this nail varnish thread to which you refer? Please could somebody post a link. Thanks.
I hardly ever varnish my fingernails. I haven't the patience to grow them any longer than comfortable typing length (ie short), because then it seems to me that I can't touch things properly with my fingertips without the nails getting in the way. Coloured varnish is always chipped within a few hours - I haven't got the habit of being careful - so it's wasted on me. I do varnish my toenails in summer though. If I'm choosing the colour it's usually the pale purple one that's the only one that doesn't clash violently with my favourite purple flipflops. Mostly, however, it's DD choosing (and painting) so it could be any colour she can get her hands on (mine - a few reds, pinks, burgundies etc - or hers - mostly glittery ones), frequently not the same colour on each toe, and usually covering a fair amount of skin as well as nail. Ummm... did I mention I tend to do them myself in the summer when they might be seen by people outside my immediate family, and let DD do them in the winter.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Dh and a friend of his have both expressed a like for chipped nail polish on women. On further relentless interview i think they were saying it showed their women folk in a private, less polished, intimate way. A way they wouldn't choose to be seen out like, but also showed they made an effort sometimes.
Any nice men know this feeling?
I don't have any strong feelings on nail varnish, but I think make up should be banned. In my view girls look infinitely better without it on, and half of womenfolk look like clowns when on a night out if you ask me. I am a big fan of dragged through hedge backwards hair as well.0 -

How old are you chewy, and what age of women are you thinking of? I'm not a fan of lots and lots of make-up, but since I got past 35 I find it's far more obvious that I look better with at least a bit of it. That doesn't mean I manage to make time for it every day, but I try as often as I can.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I can't wear nail varnish, lots of reasons but mainly h&s.
I don't wear makeup because my working environment makes it not necessary. And I will only wear it when it's necessary.0
