  • Ordered 8gb of this ram, my system needs the heat spreader (processors overclocked to 4 gig). Worth it while on offer £41.

Will run another test, and see (or not!). :D

^^^^ just to add, the above machine is running XP Pro, with 16 processes running at idle and it feels far snappier than it's score suggests ;):D

...yes, that's 16 processes, including avast, Commit Charge around 120 Meg :)

however, I'd still suggest all my computers really belong here:-

How did you get your number of processes that low?

Anyone know the minimum number of processes for Windows 7 (Home I think)?

by stopping anything unneeded from running at startup, not installing any bloat, and trimming the services that aren't needed ;) Try looking at:-

for some tips - scroll down to Popular Content and pick your OS. I don't follow his research exactly, but it's very useful if you are just starting out on the tweaking path :) He's done XP, Vista and 7, so just look up the OS you're interested in.

...must admit, I've not started on W7 yet, but when I do, I'll let you know....
