Ordered 8gb of this ram, my system needs the heat spreader (processors overclocked to 4 gig). Worth it while on offer £41.

^^^^ just to add, the above machine is running XP Pro, with 16 processes running at idle and it feels far snappier than it's score suggests :cool:
...yes, that's 16 processes, including avast, Commit Charge around 120 Meg

by stopping anything unneeded from running at startup, not installing any bloat, and trimming the services that aren't needed Try looking at:-

for some tips - scroll down to Popular Content and pick your OS. I don't follow his research exactly, but it's very useful if you are just starting out on the tweaking path He's done XP, Vista and 7, so just look up the OS you're interested in.
