OS Daily Sunday 15th January
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 15th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
RIP Iain

  • I'm not the only one up then :)

Only I'll be back in bed once Eliza is finished :)

DH is off to church this morning, then after the midwife we are taking Eliza for a walk. DS is back from his dads later, and my mum is bringing him so she'll see Eliza... she's been shopping (7th grandchild, 1st granddaughter... enough said)...

We managed a meal plan last night, because although the ready meals were a blessing they are not great... so right back into homecooking.

Hope everyone has a good day, I'm back off to bed :)

Been up since 0330 annoyingly although some hot tea is helping :D

Off to Mr T for 0930, i have my Sunday shopping done like military style. In for 0930 and just before 10.00 i ask the check out supervisor 'for a number' ;) and then im first served and driving out of the carpark by 1010 latest :o

We have friends coming over for an early supper at 4pm today, im just gona chuck together some bulked out with veg shepherds pie and green beans ...... with coffee and walnut sponge cake for dessert which i proudly made yesterday :D

I too will regret not trying to stay in bed but luckily its a lazy day today after chores so can have a little nap. Think i will put the mince in the slow cooker and leave on for a few hours :)

  • JG - CONGRATULATIONS! Not been on the board much even to read this week.

I think I might make scones in a mo. Been up and down to the Marsden Thurs and Fri and again later to day as she has her HUGE op tomorrow (fingers crossed), funeral last Weds. and MIL home from hospital at last (broke hip, had a partial replacement and picked up a staph infection in it) has port put in for intravenous anti biotics once a day and a weeping wound!

Boiler broke yesterday and have 2 slow cookers with chiken thighs and legs in thanks to JackieO and her rubber chicken/stock inspiration.

That way I can have soup cooking in the slow cooker for when we return at silly o'clock to night.

    Have a peaceful Sunday.
    Put the kettle on. ;)

    Morning all.

I thought that I was up early but this is a lie in compared to you lot!

    JulieG, she is absolutely gorgeous!:D

Best wishes to your MIL Alison.

Off to another netball match, I am wearing so many clothes that I can hardly walk! Church later and then a quiet day with lots of batch cooking.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Good morning everyone.
JG, Eliza is just so gorgeous. Her outfit is lovely too.
Yesterday didn't go to plan, wanting to get everything done so i could have a lazy day today. I did get some stuff done though. I wanted to finish my knitting off and to teach myself to crochet and the time just flew by. After all of that i still can't crochet :rotfl:.
Pork for dinner with veg. Washing machine is on and already put a load onto the airer. Will have to get some baking done for packed lunches.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning you early birds

I have been awake since 5am but was lying in DDs bed trying to get her off to sleep again. By the time I had done that DS was awake.
Plans today are actually doing something, I didn't do a thing yesterday :o was really out of sorts so hope I don't feel like that today.
I have to cook chicken which I will put on in a mo and thats for tea.
Still not done any baking for DS lunch boxes so ought to pull my finger out there.

Not much else going on, only me and DS awake so enjoying the semi peace and quiet ;)

    Hugs and spoons all round.

Morning everyone, been up since before 5, hacking cough thats keeping me awake, how OH is sleeping though my coughing is beyond me. JG, Eliza is beautiful, like everyone else I would love a snuggle, and a little sniff...well done, good to see she is settling in well.

Not much OS yesterday, really in a 'can't be ar**d' mode, OH and me not really getting on yesterday and cough and sore throat now wearing me down, despite all the remedies, suppose it just needs to run its course...This morning I have meat cooked and sliced for dinner, veg prepped, dessert ready, just need to whip cream. DS and partner and 2 DGC supposed to be coming to us this afternoon, not heard yet if they are, but if not, well thats dinner prepared for tomorrow as well.

JackieG, party looked great, your niece is gorgeous, gets her good looks from her aunt! Lou, hope you are OK, not see much of you lately. Hugs to everyone else who wants or needs one, I have plenty to give away...

So the rest of my household still in bed so cuppa at hand I am going to spend an hour with me kindle....Have good days all, will check back later.

Morning - there's a very hard frost over all the cars this morning, first one this winter (there's been a frost but not like this).

    EG looks lovely!

Hope everyone has a good day. I may just go back under the duvet for a while after taking a couple of paracetamol.

Was up early with the intention of going to local carboot but hard frost everywhere. I am thinking there will not be many brave booters out this morning so will not risk slipping and sliding down hill to go.

Think Iwill do some baking instead so willbe warmandcosy in kitchen.
