Nationwide Flex Account-cash card +

Hi Guys,
Does anyone have a flex account with Nationwide?
I have recently opened one with the cash card +.
How does there customer service compare the big FOUR banks?
I'm possibly thinking of switching my main account to them, after all I'm fed up in helping the BIG bosses at other banks getting massive bonuses.
Your opinions are much appreciated.

Nothing majorly wrong with it. But then there is nothing majorly wrong with the big 4 banks either so I don't really know what exactly you're looking for?0 -
Graham Beale, the boss at Nationwide doesn't do too badly regarding pay either.
According to the Telegraph, he received a basic salary of £650,000, bonuses totalling £1.09m and pension contributions of £115,000.
When benefits worth £28,000 are added, his total pay package came to £1.88m.
However, I digress.
My OH and I have had Nationwide flex accounts for years, and I would highly recommend - even though Nationwide prefer to stuff Mr Beale's pockets with cash, rather than give interest on the account.
Nationwide online banking works very well. We log on with a card reader, and the system is easy to use, all accounts show on screen and you have the ability to transfer between accounts, pay bills etc.
I like our flex account and would like it better if interest was awarded.0 -
Ive found Nationwide to be slower and more antiquated than other banks e.g. Lloyds, First Direct.
Staff are quite pleasant in branch but I made the mistake of calling up telephone banking once and had a 'full on' sales pitch - lesson learnt. I also agree with comments callum99990 -
I think that the account can't be used out the UK and has some counter restrictions.
Nationwide used to be different but now its the same as the big boys.
I suggest you choose your bank/building society on convenience, access and cost etc...This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi
Completely agree with Libra 10. We have banked with them for 25 years and I particularly like their online banking. Never had a problem.0 -
I'd never use Nationwide as my main bank as their online banking is horrible in my opinion. Much better than co-op, but not as good as HSBC (again, IMO).0

Well I find it far more convenient than HSBC because they don't have the ridiculous SecureCode thing.
As to design etc. - I do like the HSBC site marginally more but the Nationwide one does pretty much everything I could possibly need - what's wrong with it?0 -
Opened one this week after 22 years with Barclays. The final straw was when they refused to lend me £10k "because of the way my salary was paid into my account". That followed them all making hefty bonuses while my ISA was losing money.
So will be good to see what the Nationwide is like. Was given a £2.5k overdraft to start - don't intend to use it if I can avoid it though. Can I help?0 -
How did your ISA lose money? (Unless it was a S&S ISA)0

Nationwide are not a good choice in my experience. The inbranch service is awful, weekly standing orders are not available. Their on line full statements are a day behind with limited detail. I mentioned that the inbranch service is bad, it is so slow, the staff seem punch drunk. My local branch is always packed like a refugee camp.
You mentioned that you don't like the bosses getting big pay days, the Nationwide boss isn't exactly on the minimum wage. My advice would be to avoid the Nationwide like the plague. All the best.Money is a wise mans religion0
