Point taken. No offense intended. I don't judge people on their religion, but as individuals. I only have opinions on some religious beliefs and we can't all agree that some things are right and some things are wrong. Each to their own, as they say. " As long as no one gets hurt, either physically or emotionally", that's the personal religion I invented for myself.

I figured as much but it was starting to cut a bit close to the bone (I have aunts who are nuns and get tarred with THAT brush).

So moving on, hows everyone looking for the lunacy of the ESA baguette shops?
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

After reading the brief I still don't understand if we need to buy just the baguette or two items in total including the baguette.. The brief contradicts itself. Appears to be better than the egg brief though, although I have only skimmed it.

It happens. I'm surprised though as Turkey is very westernised. Thought they would cater for everyone.

It was a small traditional hotel, so all the food was Turkish. The same people complained about the absence of chicken nuggets and fish fingers :o They also thought the mosque shouldn't play the call to prayer music just before sunrise as it woke them up

You could get bacon and other British stuff at the more touristy bars and restaurants in the resort though.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Religious debate on here? On a Sunday?... Nah gonna pass on that one thanks. But on the subject of halal. I do know that many of the gap chicken places sell halal meat. Also a few of the 'posh' chicken RE places. I suppose it depends where you live and if they feel it's worth it.
Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk

What weirds me out is chains such as Subway that sell "halal pork". Strange that one. Muslims can't eat pork, it's a no no, so whether it's halal or not, it's not allowed. Confused dot com. Anyway, time for my crackers....... :p

Ha the girl at Subway got a shock. Went in and was looking on the menu feeling a bit confused. She asked if she could help and I said, "Well, I normally have Chicken and Bacon ranch, but your menu says Chicken and Turkey, But I don't like Turkey".

Ah, she replied "Thats cos we don't sell bacon, were Halal"

My response was to stare at her and say "Your Shi**ing me".

    Couldn't help it. Slipped out.

I'm all for those who live their life in a certain way. Whatever floats your boat. I don't have a religion but do believe in a certain "higher power", I just don't think the religions I've come across are for me. I disagree with to many of their principles.

The problem I had was, Why should somebody elses religion stop ME eating bacon. I like my food and found it quite annoying that my lack of faith was second to the needs of somebody with a faith of not eating bacon.

I'm not up on the rules, but, if you don't eat pork, does that really mean it cannot be in the same building as something you will eat?
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

Oh please babes, you didn't actually believe her did you? It's all b/s from where I am sat. If the meat is "genuinely" halal, a UK company would have a certificate advertising it's authenticity from the UK based HMC http://www.halalmc.net/certified_outlets/certified_butchers.html So why on earth do Subway stores in the UK have the certificate from the committee in Indonesia and Ireland. Surely, if it was halal, then they would have been approved by the UK committee right?

As for the second point, it depends on the individual. Some people are really strict, others are not. Personally, I don't have a problem if pork was in the same building, but if it was touching or in direct conctact, it would be a no no for me. For example, the gap burger shop is a no no for me. The potato products are not fried in vegetable/sunflower oil, so for vegetarians/halal/kosher, it's a no no.

But this is the entire crux of many of the arguments...

I was going to write about Halal and animal rights, Saudi men thinking women being allowed to drive will lead to them becoming floosies and all sorts but it's late, I'm going to bed instead.
