To change the subject completely, has anyone ever bought a car from the same showroom after MSing it? I've been made an offer I'm finding it difficult to refuse on a car I really want. The offer's valid til the end of the month but I'm not sure I'm allowed....any ideas?0

Personally I would give them a call and ask. Its better to be safe than sorry and If you need to register its not hard, they are easy to talk to. I know some people are afraid of them but they really are helpful enough and not the scary people of old. HTH xxHello Everyone,
I am quite new to MSing and I am a bit confused about having to register as self-employed. I've done a mystery shop sometime ago but it didn't pay any fee (just reimbursed the cost) so I didn't register as self-employed for that since I wasn't receiving any money for it (can someone please confirm that I was right?
).
Today, I've done my first mystery shop that will pay a fee but, given the amount of jobs that I get to do, do I need to register as self-employed? In a year, I've done 2 jobs and one didn't pay. I am confused about this because, about 2 years ago, I've received a cheque from one of these survey's website for £20. By then, I had read here that I had to register as self-employed but I called HMRC and they told me that, as long as it wasn't a regular income, I wouldn't need to register. For that reason, I didn't. This is what is making me confused. I don't think I'll get a regular income for ms so I don't know what to do.
Also, if I register, and only get to do a few jobs a year, do I have to send anything to HMRC every year telling them how much I've earned or something like that?
I am sorry if I am asking stupid questions but this is the third time I look into this and I find myself lost without knowing what to do. If things get too complicated, I am afraid I'll do something wrong an lose more than what I've earned.
Any help is very much appreciated!
Thank you!0 -

Depends on if you used a fake name, if you haven't, I can't see it being a problem. If you are worried, call the MS company.
Ask for more off anyway too! :rotfl:0 -

Yeah, forgot to mention that, I did use a fake name! It's kinda similar to mine so I think I could explain it relatively easily. The deal is miles better than I can get anywhere else and it's the exact model I shopped for. I've exhausted all the local dealerships through MSing so I drove to two other garages miles away but they can't match it (and the original dealer has since called back and offered to take even more off it!)
I'll maybe email the MS company and see what they think. I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on it.0 -

I have my first job with checkout uk this week and I wondered if anyone has had any experience with them? Are the reports more detailed or straight forward? They say they pay within 30 days, is this normal procedure?0

There was a note on their site on Friday that they would be down for 24 hours for maintenance, back up now, strangely MCE were down too so it must have been a Prophet thing.0
