scaffolding pole - neighbours away & we'd like to place a pole on their land

Any advice gratefully received.

We have an extension being built at the moment, and would like to place a scaffolding pole on our neighbour's front lawn in order to get the roof placed over the garage.

They're on holiday at the moment for another month. I've emailed them asking if it would be ok, but obviously they may not be able/want to check their mail box.

I know that I should have foreseen the need to place a pole & to have asked them before they left, but I hadn't realised that this would be needed.

Any ideas on how I could handle this please ? I know you're allowed access to a neighbour's property in order to carry out repairs, but I'm not sure that building an extension would fall into the same category?

TIA

How all do you get on with them? If you turn it round, would you be happy? If yes to both, carry on.

Pop a note through their letterbox, so if they arrive home overnight, they have an explanation.

They're not due to be home for another month unfortunately, which is why I've emailed them asking if it would be ok. I'm stuck really - the builders can't wait another month, but I wouldn't be happyto carry on without their permission (even though we could get it done before they return!)

Put the pole there and hurry up with the work, or cantilever the scaffold instead

if we were surrounded by "normal" neighbours, I think I would've been tempted to just "get it done" whilst they were on holiday. However,we are surrounded by busybodies who will report back the goings-on by us, the dastardly new people!

Cantilevered or foot on the ground, it still infringes. I would drop a note around, so that the busy bodies are pre empted
