customers on economy 7 won't get the reduction!

I noticed it too and think its a bit of a cheek given that economy seven can be very expensive to being with.

Regarding alexlyne's post I think the storage you mention is correct (it may be increasing but that's the figure I recall seeing years ago). Clearly then they can't store a years supply but I can still see how you would buy x amount to be delivered periodically. I think the most confusing aspect is the fact that companies also have separate generation arms which tends to make them a bit like a bookmaker with a perfectly balanced book. Whatever happens they win.

I don't know if its as simply as saying buy loads now, for the storage reason you gave. The people you would be buying off would know you need shed loads in Winter when demand, and this the price is going to be higher.

I think the best argument against the current setup is that we DO have some of the cheapest prices in Europe. However this is because the taxes make up a lower proportion of the bill than in other countries. That somewhat blows the competition argument to smithereens IMO.

That said there is evidence often quoted on here that being a supplier isn't that profitable. I know people just see the big number, but I recall seeing a chart a few years ago now which showed a period when they were making a loss. I think few businesses would want that to happen more than once!

I've just had a look at my account - no reduction from British Gas for economy 7 electricity customers.

Following Martin's advice I fixed last June. I chose the npower GO FIX 6 tariff which is fixed until the end of July 2012 so I am glad to read that I can change tariff without penalty. :)

I've just checked with Energy Helpline & I can save £16.00 by transferring to GO FIX 10 which is fixed until 30/04/2013. I may as well wait until my current fix expires on 31/07/2012 & do another price comparison. As things stand at the moment I could save more money by transferring to First Utility in August.

    Mirror, mirror on the wall,
who is the cheapest of them all?

    It's me!

Still nothing cheaper on the comparison sites than my existing non-Fixed SaveOnline 9. If E.On were to change the tariff, there is no way they will reduce 9. More than likely, they will increase it to match the others.

So, don't bug E.On, best thing is for them to do nothing at all.
