Oh I forgot to add get the CAB involved and if they write a very good letter explaining the circumstances the creditors should accept token payments no problem more over I did on a few occasions get debts written off for clients who had suffered domestic abuse. No guarantee but if you have any supporting evidence, i.e. letter from GP, Solicitor, Women’s Refuge etc… then chances are greatly increased.
You may have a 12 month contract, however, give them a tel and see if it can get reduced.0 -
There was never any physical abuse, just mental, and theres no proof unless being on anti-depressants for the last 6 years is??!!
He admitted 'unreasonable behaviour' with the drinking being quoted in the divorce, would that count? And would that really make a difference in how the creditors view me?
I have an appointment now with Christians Against Poverty, they are coming to my house on the 25th, is this something they would be able to advise on?"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" - quote from Bambi's mum

Domestic abuse is not just physical it is a whole spectrum which includes financial, emotional, mental, sexual, physical abuse. Christians Against Poverty should be able to assist but I have no personal experience with them. Yes creditors do distinct between vulnerable and non-vulnerable clients. If you discussed the cause of your depression with your GP then S(he) can write you a supporting letter.0

No I never did, just would sit there and cry saying I couldnt cope
So no proof. "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" - quote from Bambi's mum

Well, they should still write the letter without supporting evidence.0

Hi WantToBeFree and welcome, OK back to why you came here. Please contact Christians Against Poverty again and if they suggest bankruptcy then come back to this board and we will help you all we can. Also if your not ‘clicking’ with one of the Debt charities do try another. We advise you to try at least two for your own piece of mind.

I'm hopeless at SOA's but as it is a BR SOA you are allowed more money than what people are suggesting as this is not a money saving SOA it is for you to be able to live on during your BR.
These are the HES figures just for the OR really and please please don't copy these as the OR will then scrutinize every bit of your SOA and BR with a fine tooth comb!! Use your own figures as the OR will ask for receipts (the OR will see your bank statements as well and remember some of your expenses may be higher too.
The new HES figures - Click here
I know you have been lurking for a year but please read these links too.
For ‘essential’ BR info this is Fermi’s sticky.
BR friendly home insurance thread.
BR Friendly bank accounts sticky.
BR Abbreviations.
If you are new/old to this board and receive/see a comment that is not helpful or insensitive please don’t let it put you off posting, often these comments are made by people who don’t normally contribute to this board and don’t speak for us.
What to do if you get an insensitive or hurtful comment.
And do remember we’ve all been through this and anything you don’t understand don’t be afraid to ask.
Best wishes

Thank you so much for that If

So with the exception of groceries (which I can reduce) and travel (which I cant) then most of my figures are way under what I'm allowed! Not sure what impact that will have on going BR tho?"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" - quote from Bambi's mum

I think the main areas you can make more savings on are these of groceries/household expenses, clothing, haircuts,phone/sky/etc costs, presents and to a certain extent the fuel costs. If you can trim a small amount off each you'll end up with quite a lot more cash towards your debt repayments.
The suggestion of getting over to the OS board to cut your household expenses is almost compulsory! There are folk there feeding their family of 2 adults + 2 kids on £50 per week or even less, including cleaning materials and basuc toiletries. My budget is £75 per week for that for a 2+2 family with teenage kids and we don't skimp, trust me. if you're not working atm you've got time to do all the OS household management stuff and you'll be amazed at how much better you'll eat for less, honestly.
£20 for hairdressing bills? Not essential and almost forbidden in your circumstances, unfortunately! Same with the £45 for clothes and £50 per presents. That's £115 per month for these three things on top of your £450 household estimate. You're talking £140 per week for one adult and two kids? That's A LOT when you're on benefits. Once again, OS will help. You've got the time once again to be looking round for bargains, doing the make do and mend thing and trimming down your expenses.
TV/phone has been already discussed.
Fuel costs. I agree, I wouldn't be expecting my kids to walk a round trip of 10 miles a day either and though we're a cycling family, neither would I expect them to cycle 10 miles a day in winter conditions. And buses work out remarkably expensive unless your council provide a scholar's pass or school bus? My suggestion here though is not tp take the car off the drive except for the school and dad runs...work out how you can fit all your shopping trips into the school journey, look for another parent to do the school run with and, possibly, think about moving closer to the school? this last may not be possible of course but it's got great non-money related benefits, as in the kids get more excercise and will be nearer friends, hopefully.
But the general point is to trim off £5 here, £10 there. Not off the figures to submit, but in real life. There's no law saying you can't pay off more in one particular month than you've agreed, after all.Val.0 -
