I feel I have to vent about the simply STUNNING degree of incompitence Currys and Dixons have displayed whilst I, unsuccessfully, try to purchase a washing machine from them.

I went into the Glasgow Braehead store and dealt with a nice guy called Mike. He worked really hard for me, and got me a good deal on a Hood, Hob, Oven, Dishwasher all with extended warranties (they discounted some prices to offset these). I also wanted a Washing Machine and Tumble Drier, however, these were online only deals he advised.

OK, went home and ordered the tumble drier. Tick!

Then...it all started to go wrong.

Every time I tried to order the Washing Machine I got a technical error message, please call us on....

Call the number and get some utterly dis-interested call centre jockey who just rhymed off "oh it must be a technical error, please try again in 24hrs! We have informed the web people"

This was on the 27th Dec.

I have been trying ever since then to get this effing washing machine ordered.

Every day I tried online, everyday the same. Call the call centre again, and get the same line fed to me again....YOU TOLD ME THAT YESTERDAY, THE DAY BEFORE THAT AND THAT!

Lodged a complaint with head office.

Got an e-mail back saying....yes you guessed it....there appears to be a technical error...please try again in 24hrs!!!!! ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!

Told them that they were fobbing me off as badly as the call centre was.

Was literally about to cancel the whole lot when...hold on...it....surely not...it's WORKING!!!!!!!

I was able to order my WASHING MACHINE (sound of angels singing!)

Went to bed tired but happy that my quest was over.

Next day, get a call from Indesit. Hello, we are calling to deliver your WASHER/DRIER. EH???????

Turns out some numpty at Currys had put the wrong code in. Only option was for them to cancel.

Gave up on Currys and decided to try another approach. Dixons (some of you can see whats coming already?) had it at the same price (which had gone up £20 incidentally). Order went through fine.

Finally, everything is ordered!!!

Got a call today from Indesit. We are calling to arrange delivery of your WASHER/DRIER. OFFS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turns out Dixons and Currys are both members of the same evil empire, that is conspiring to send me over the edge, and to an early grave!

Only option to cancel.

So....does ANYBODY have a contact name/telephone number for someone at Currys/Dixons that actually cares even a tiny bit about Customer Service?

I see NO reason why I should give them any of the other business if this is how they treat customers.

Whilst on the subject of Customer Service... the POLAR OPPOSITE to these amatuers above, would be John Lewis.
I ordered a TV. They mistakenly cancelled the order. By the time I found out, the set was out of stock.
They called me back, held their hands up and ended up supplying me with a superior set for the same price.

THAT is how you treat customers!

John Lewis in indeed better service but it comes at a cost....

Bh the sounds of it, avoid Dixons and Currys, after this farce I would look elsewhere and not even bother ringing them now.

Currys and Dixons sites are almost identical so are clearly from the same pot of !!!!!!!s, did you not notice?
  • I was going to say go to John Lewis and see if they will price match same product for the same price as Currys/Dixons.

When I bought my tumble dryer went to my local Currys, got all the information/advice from the sales assistants about which one would be best for me, then went home and ordered it online from someone else.

Actually, I may just do that!

When we bought our oven from currys a few years ago we paid in full at the time and they agreed to store it until needed it a few weeks later. Went into the store to arrange delivery to find they had sold it! Yes we had paid in full for it. Unbelievable. We managed to get a good discount off a superior oven but the original one was a particularly good deal.

I think after the first website error I'd just have bought from elsewhere.
  • I remember buying a PC from Curries years ago and they messed up the delivery. I got some free stuff with it when it eventually came but never ever used them again. Absolutely horrific service.

I have just seen a new fridge freezer on the Dixon site and then compared prices and found that the Co-op are £0.01p cheaper with free deliver option so went throught all of the screen on Dixon site after having to log in as a new customer - ticked the option to ask a question about an intended purchase and then another screen opened to give me options to ask a question and I ticked that I wanted to take advantage of their Price Promise
Then found an e-mail telling me someone would be in touch re my question and giving a number to ring if I wanted to speak to someone 0844 561 1111 - rang and got through to KnowHOw and when I said this was the number I had been given to ring Dixoons the young lady seemed surprised but when I insisted that I had been given the number she tried to answer my query but said Dixons do not offer a price promise - I said yes they do as their site offers the option to take advantage of the Price Promise she did not believe me and followed me the screen where it says contact us but becasue you have to log in she gave up and told me to e-mail my complaint and copy/paste the screen to my e-mail
She said her supervisor had confirmed that Dixons do not offer a Price Promise and I said they must do to give me the option to use it
    Dead-end Grrrrr!
Before that I had rang Currys to ask to use the Price Promise but they said that they do not match the Co-op but Dixons would if I contacted them ha!ha!Grrr!
It was not the penny or rather the penny plus 10% it was the delivery as Dixons/Currys can deliver tomorrow but Co-op not until Saturday - not that it really matters
I just wish I had not wasted my time and money contacting/phoning Dixons/Curry in the first place - no wonder they are losing customers fast
I won't ever buy from them again after this farce - if they treat you like this when you are thinking of ordering goods what would they treat you like if you had a complaint - I dread to think

Dixons Do not offer a public price promise.

Currys and PcWorld offer a price promise.

Dixons USED to do a price promise, but they've withdrawn it from public, the option you saw would either be if the price dropped within 7 days or/and the options still there after they withdrew the offer.

Buying, shopping call it what may is all a game. We the customer are alway's right because we have the money and they the retailer want our money. Select your product go online and get prices and delivery options then visit a store like Currys, Comet ect and have a look at the product if it meets up to your expectations ask for a price deal, If they won't play go elsewhere. I did this a month ago with curry's looking to buy a specific brand of vacumm cleaner, they would not price match so I went to John Lewis got it £50 cheaper and a free 2 year guarantee and delivery free in 2 day's. Money talks, well in most cases anyway.
