Awesome... so if we can confirm that our landlords also believe UK Power Networks to be at fault, we'll take our individual damage claims to them..?Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Ah, so now we're hearing that "it was a loose Neutral wire in the main control box for the building". No wonder the property managers are keeping quiet :mad:Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

They charged us £200 each in October as an "electric surchage" to cover the added costs for winter (even though bills are included in our 'rent' and we hadn't expected this). And now they've broken all our stuff through failure to maintain that electric supply!!!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

I didn't even have a concept of the existence of '3 phase electricity' :rotfl:Appreciate the education though!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Okay, so this saga has continued... last week there was another surge and over the weekend all power to the building was switched off while they fixed it (i.e. no lights, no heating and no electric sockets).
We're now being told that the problem remains unresolved and that they have to order in parts.
In the meantime, people in the building are being seriously impacted financially. A couple of quotes from residents:"Unfortunately that second power surge killed even more electrical items. We now have no microwaves to cook with.""Since the last surge I replaced my electrical appliances costing around a grand and plugged everything into surge protectors, with this surge it blew my surge protectors and 200 quids worth of gear.... Tis getting ridiculous...."
Our property managers are avoiding any questions about paying for the damage. I'm thinking that they're responsible as maintainers of the buildings and its core structure, and that we won't be getting any replies that make it easier for us to claim from them.
Does anyone have a recommendation on how to proceed? Should the impacted individuals write an invoice and send it recorded delivery to the property manager?Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
There was a programme on Tv last week about the increase in metal theft, i forget which part of the country it was but the electric supply spokesman said they weren't responsible when thousands of pounds worth of personal equipment after thieves broke into a sub station and stole cables that caused a surge, he said people should insure their own things.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Whether this would be held to be the case is another matter.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
