Hello everyone, i'm all new to this so be kind please! I've just set up my DMP with CCCS and so far they have been great, i'm so worried about the lack of funds i will now have, works out around £90 a week for myself to spend on bits and pieces. Am i being stupid thinking this is too little? My DMP payment will be £271 a month. This is all new to me, i've never set myself a strict budget but then again thats why i got in this mess in the first place. I had a bad day yesterday and didnt sleep at all well last night, suppose i'm just panicking about the road ahead and what may happened. I'd really appreciate any replies. Thanks

    Hi Wellsy

Welcome to the forums. Don't worry, everyone will be very kind and understanding and there is certainly no judging going on. I'm even newer than you with the DMP as mine isn't even set up yet. I had some really good advice from HH who suggested we live with our set budget this month to see how we get on, so I'm starting that from 1 March. I do know from other posts on here that if you do find your budget restrictive, you can discuss it again with CCCS and they will adjust if for you if necessary. Have a look for BR (Blushing Rose) as she has just gone through something similar.
    Good luck with your DMP.

    hi all,

I sent £5 token payments with my letters informing my creditors of my DMP, I think the reason they say send token payments is to prevent a application for a ccj from your creditors as it is more favourable to be seen to dealing with your debts then appearing to be ignoring them.

I received my DD mandate today confirming my first payment to CCCS is 10th of march. my tummy is in knots! on the plus side the phone hasn't rung once today (knocks on head.. touch wood!) but Royal Mail are really getting their monies worth out of my postie 15 letters in the post today and 13 of them were from my creditiors :o:eek:

  • Thanks Mrs H. That's great that your first payment is coming out quite soon. Hopefully that will slow down the amount of correspondence you are receiving. X

  • I am hoping that someone can advice on a problem that we have just found out about.

We have had a DMP with CCCS since November and everything has been going along fine with it. However in February my wife has had to have some time off work sick. She was signed off by the doctor and we believed the company would pay the full amount of wages as normal. We have just found out that this is not the case due to the amount of time my wife has been at the company and so is having a wage reduction of £624 and receiving an SSP payment of £114...so this month we will be really, really in a big hole

I've just missed being able to phone CCCS tonight and can't contact them until 8am Monday and our DMP is for £592 and there is no way we could afford to pay that much out this month.

Does anyone know what CCCs are likely to say? Would we be able to pay a much reduced rate this week and go back to normal next month? Any advice would be appreciated as we are very worried about this.

    Cheers,

Hi Alan. I am sure CCCS will be fine with that. I've not has to do that yet but lots of people on this thread have either missed or reduced payments at some point in time and they have all reported CCCS to be understanding and supportive. Due to a DMP being an agreement and not contractual you do have some room for flexibility.

  • Thanks StandingTall - it makes me feel a bit better knowing that...it was just a bit of a shock receiving that letter from my wife's employer...and we had been doing so well on the DMP and just don't want anything to stop that now.
  • It is scarey isn't it Alan, sometimes. I try and remain positive about my DMP as sometimes I think that if I allow the negative thoughts to intrude, worry about the what it's and the mighty, then I might just lose it and crumble. However, you have to take comfort that we ARE in a DMP and have wonderful organisations such as CCCS and Paylan to look out for is when things go a little skewy, as they have form right now. Imagine if this your wife and herself had had this news while you were still pre light bulb moment and only just managing (or not) the minimum payments etc! It would have been so much worse.

I hope you feel better now and have a lovely weekend and that your wife is over her sickness.

    All the best:)

I see no reason why the CCCs would have an issue with that. They might even suggest that you just pay token payments this month and keep the lot x

    Dear All,

I know some of you have been in the fortunate position to offer full and finals. I am optimistic that I may be able to do this to all / most over the next month!

I was just wondering during this period if it was usual to continue with the monthly DMP payment as some of these debts may be settled before the next payment goes to creditors on 25th March.

I am going to be using the CCCS template letter and have been on my DMP for 3 years with 2 more to go,

I would be grateful for any advice / suggestions.

    Regards

    Stacey
