The advice here is wonderful, and it's great to see such support for each other.

I'm glad I've found this post but I'm more glad I've found someone whose at the same point as me. I sent proof of income off last Friday. Stick around and keep us updated, I'm going to online chat seems to be the only place I can talk about it and not be made to feel useless.

I'm sure my missus doesn't mean to....but she now feels that the burden to provide is more on her and she drops little 'digs' I from time to time.

I'm still petrified that my creditors won't accept I can't afford to pay in full but I'm trying to take the 'not much more I can do' line of thought

It will be ok. Most of us will tell you we mever heard of they accepted or not. Just keep your head down and pay the DMP amount whatever they say.

I can't believe it - no more angry birds:(

OH dropped the Ipad on a stone floor and it is sadly no more. Going to see if it can be fixed but it is another expense when the budget is stretched to the max for the upcoming festivities. Going to sulk nowsigh.gif

    It would be interesting to know across this board who has had interest and charges stopped with various companies as I have just posted there are no hard and fast rules. Perhaps a lurking creditor could let us know? My experience is as follows;

Halifax - froze interst 2 months in and have already sold the debt within 6 months
MBNA - froze and stopped interest from month 1
HSBC - Still applying 29.9% interest and claiming that they have never had info from SC
Natwest - still applying interest but "considering" freezing
Santander - Froze from month 2
Barclaycard - frozen interest and charges

It could be the amount owed versus the amount earned and the ratio of debt against inclome, we owe a considerable amount. It may also be due to the reason - ours was business failure. I really don't know - but it would be good to find out!!

10 months in, none of our debts have been sold and we still don't have any defaults, though we are hoping the NatWest will send one for Christmas :D

M&S acc 1: Full interest at 24.9% since start. FOS fought it and lost. We now thow every spare penny we have at this account.

M&S acc 2: 3 months at 25.9% then stopped it but are threatening to reapply it as we are close to minimum payment. We have made a payment every month but they mark our credit record as payment 4 months late.

Lloyds TSB OD: FOS got interest frozen after 3 months but Lloyds do 6 month reviews and say they may reintroduce interest at next review in February.

Lloyds TSB CC: Interest reduced to 6% but are threatening to reapply it as we are now at minimum payment.

Halifax: Frozen interest after 6 weeks.

HSBC: Frozen since 2 weeks in.

MBNA: Reduced interest at 2.9% since month 2.

NatWest OD: Charged full interest and OD charges for 8 months, then we set the FOS on them and they backed down and refunded the interest. FOS say this is sorted but NatWest keep sending threatening letters with interest and fees to be added to account soon. We are sitting this out to see what happens but it's a bit nervewracking.

NatWest CC: Frozen since 2 months in.

Opus: reduced interest to 4% after 6 weeks.

The good, the bad and the ugly :rotfl:

It would be interesting to know across this board who has had interest and charges stopped

    Here's my list

All the below stopped charging within a few months of starting the DMP
MBNA Virgin cc (OH's) now passed onto Aktiv Kapital
MBNA Virgin cc (mine) now passed onto Aktiv Kapital
    Asda storecard (Santander)
    Tesco cc
    Mint cc
    Nat West cc
    Capital One cc
Nat West Loan now passed over to Moorcroft
Intelligent Finance loan now passed over to BOS
Halifax cc (mine) now passed over to BOS

The only accounts being charged are a Halifax CC belonging to OH and bank overdraft. I think my Halifax cc, because it only had a small amount on it, got passed to BOS and so there is no interest or charges on that one now. We have two bank accounts both with overdrafts one for over 2K and the other was £800. We don't get charges for the small one but they are charging us for the bigger one. I asked why the difference and they said it was something to do with cut off points. Under a certain amount you don't pay and over that amount you do pay. The fact that they treat them differently when the money is owed by the same person, with the same amount of resources seems daft.

Perhaps what I should have done was have lots of bank accounts with a small overdraft in each one and then I wouldn't be paying any charges at all.:D

    Totally mad.
