It's difficult isn't it, I understand how you feel- I'm at the start of my DMP as well. I want to be able to do things and go on holiday (nowhere fancy, camping would do!) I keep telling myself that things will get better in the future but it's so hard not to feel down and anxious- I am scared of running out of money, the car needing repairs, something else going wrong, getting a CCJ, etc etc...
Not a great time!

Just popped back in for a quick read today
Sorry you're finding start-up such a struggle BR.
But what you have to remember and come to terms with is the 'lots of nice stuff that, in the past, i could have just got for myself with no bother' wasn't bought with your money. It belonged to the bank/CC company or whatever. This is one of the reasons, why you (and others, including myself) end up on a DMP.
Don't mean to sound harsh, but this is the truth and the reality. And it really does get better. Living on a DMP is no barrel of laughs; it's bl**dy hard work at times. Give it just a while and then you'll start to see an improvement and balances come down. Then youll know you're chipping away at that debt mountain till it's nowt but dust
There are lots of ways to budget and make £10 go a very, very long way. Lots of other threads on this site with hints and tips.
I know I'm on the other side of the fence now, but I'll let you in on a little secret - once the happy day comes when you are debt free, budgeting becomes pure pleasure. Because every penny saved or well spent is a triumph! It yours now - doesn't have to go to CCCS/Payplan etc - its yours
Good luck to you and all just starting on a DMP. You should congratulate yourselves for lifting your head from the mire and facing up to your debts.

Well thankfully my work managed to set up my new bank account details in time for my wages to be paid in and not get taken by my overdraft. One hurdle over!
Got my first letter today from CCCS saying that my Halifax CC won't accept my reduced offer due to 'recent spending on my account', anyone know what they mean by this? It can't be because I've been spending money on their, I haven't used it because it's up to the max and I've only been paying the minimum payment which is mainly interest anyways.
I haven't even had the chance to send the letters to all my creditors yet with token payments because the DMP got set up much quicker than expected and with the uncertainty of where my wages would end up I didn't have the money to make token payments. Should I still do this now? Or just send the letters notifying them that I'm on a DMP now? I got a text message from Bank Of Scotland today too, saying that I need to call them, my payments from CCCS doesn't go out till the 1st and then I guess my creditors won't get anything until the 25th(ish).
It's all quite nerve-wrecking isn't it?! Sorry to everyone on here who's having a bad time of it at the minute, hopefully things will start looking up. I'm nervous about the next couple of weeks.0 -
Oh and another question...which I should probably know the answer to...but how do you know what is the right address to send letters to? Between the website, statements and other corespondence I can't seem to tell what the right one I should use is?? Maybe I should call them?0

Hello everyone, i am new to this site so please be nice to me!
I am in a payday loan hell! Due to a huge change in circumstances i had to support more then myself on my wage. I ran up debts with various payday companies, i would pay back the loans and instantly get another out. The costs spiralled and this month there is no way i can pay back the £3,500 i owe. On top of this i owe about £2,700 in credit cards and a £1250 overdraft. I decided that the stress which was slowlg killing me had to stop and so i have cancelled my debit card, canceled my direct debits and changing banks.
I contacted national debt line and cried down the phone to them and have just recieved my DMP pack to fill out. All of this and whilst i live at home i am having to hide my troubles from everyone....
What am i going to expect in the next couple of months? I have sent emails to everyone of the payday loan companies that i will soon go into default with and they are all refusing to a DMP.
Where do i stand?Starting DMP w/NDL January 2012.
Total Debt:Payday loans: [STRIKE]£4325.89[/STRIKE] £1000, Credit Cards: [STRIKE]£2700.00[/STRIKE] £0 Store Cards: [STRIKE]£790.89[/STRIKE]£560.00 OD (No interest woo hoo): £1250
Total debt: [STRIKE]£9025.89[/STRIKE] £2810:D:D

Welcome horsesforcourses,
I'm pretty new too so can't say that I can be of much or any real help. But just wanted to say welcome and well done for taking the first step. This debt lark is a stressful thing and it's all too easy to bury your head, I should know I did it for years! I wish you the best of luck and hopefully as I get to know my way around more I can be of some help in the future.

Hi, we have Halifax CC and they also refused our DMP to start with due to recent spending. This means that you must have used the card in the last 28 days. You will need to ask CCCS to re send DMP letters once your last spending has been more that 28 days ago. Our last spending had been on day 25!!
When we sent our initial DMP letters we did not spend token payments and we had no problems. Hope this helps.0 -
