  • We are currently trying to absorb £230 interest per month and this latest one would take it to over £350. Still trying to rejig figures to pay this week's vets bills but deepest, darkest recesses of the freezer threw up some nice surprises and the larder unit is full of beans. lentils, rice and pasta so we won't go hungry. Low carb diet battle is well lost :rotfl:

This was one of the preditors who had never contacted us so we had no idea it was under a 6 month review, presumably only CCCS were privy to that information

The huge hug is well needed and greatly appreciated :)

    TTFTM x

Let's keep our fingers tightly crossed.

My interest payments were £180 this month. Providing any other preditors dont reapply more interest I reckon by the time I reach my DFD I will have paid overall approx 12% interest across the DMP. Living conditions are doable but not much room for manouvre as you know. Whilst it's unfortunate to still have interest applied and to not have much budget flexibiility it is a darn site better than what the aternative. At least we will get a DFD.

Im on a freezer, cupboard and grocery challenge too so we are in good company.

More importantly I hope you pet is better.

  • We won't know for a couple of weeks if he is ok. It was a choice between really risky and not always successful surgery or a long acting treatment which needs replacing every 12 to 18 months. We went for the latter but there is the risk that it's the wrong kind of tumour and it won't repond. The full diagnosis would have cost several hundred pounds and taken 3 weeks, neither we or the vet thought we had the time to spare, and though we didn't share this with the vet, we definitely knew we didn't have the money to spare. Am already planning saving up for next year's treatment if it does work.

This month's interest would haver been £230 without this latest bombshell and we already planned on writing off £140 of that with extra payments. I need a blitz on ebay again and it all needs to go on interest payments because I refuse to see our DFD move further into the future.

Thanks for keeping me on track Twin Sis, I definitely owe you a Hotel Chocolat treat one day in our debt free future :D

  • Hi have not been on for a while, DMP going OK paid lots and now seeing a diffrence in what I owe, which is great.

I have been trying to make some money for chirstmas as kids already telling me what they want, by doing Surveys , ebaying etc.

Been thinking of ways to also reduce our debts, my lightbuld moment is this one. What I have purchased with my CC less the amount paid. If the amount is the same then the CC should say be nice and close the debt. And the same if it is still outstanding I will pay the amount off.

Now I am going to wake up and do some more ebaying.

    Construction?

I work, i still need my DMP, as long as you are dealing with your issues there's something positive to be taken from that. pick your head up, deep breath, get some positivity and this new job with the DMP in place could give you the kick start you need.

Not a great place to be in, but we're all there with the debt.

    Good luck for next week!

No,not construction. Business improvement and supply chain management.
There has been very little about but know I can navigate the "agency" world of job hunting and get direct to recruiters more realistic jobs are coming up.

Well, just signed my DMP for the CCCS and about to post it off.

over 2 1/2 years since being made redundant and really thought I would have got a job by now.

    I feel absolutely sick.

Hi TStan, hope you are feeling a bit better now and good luck with the job hunting.
Another day, another creditor statement. Back to full interest :(

I phone and speak to them, to be told I should not be phoning because they only communicate with CCCS.

"OK please just tell me why you have reapplied full interest",

"Because we only have a 6 monthly agreement with CCCS and they have not updated us as to your situation". :wall:

Why is CCCS help available from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 3pm Saturday for new clients but only from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday for existing clients? And why is the former free and the latter at a premium number?

I feel the need to ask this question on the CCCS ask a counsellor a question thread :o

If this latest interest charger is not sorted by the end of next week and the interest refunded, our DMP will be self serviced from 1st October. Geeky twin watch this space ......

Hi TTFTM sorry to hear about the interest. Quite a few of our creditors are working on a 6 month budget. They said they will remind me when the 6 months is up but I'm not confident they will, so I have made a note in my diary. They know most people work on a yearly plan so why they don't do the same is a bit of a mystery.

Hope poorly pet is OK too.

I wouldn't care if they had ever communicated with me about a 6 monthly review but we have never even had a thing to acknowledge the DMP, let alone known about a 6 month review, so it must have been agreed with CCCS. And now they refuse to speak to me about my debt

Pet is acting like he usually does, bounding and bouncing like there wasn't a thing wrong with him but he has lost 50% of his bodyweight over the last 2 weeks and we need to keep our fingers crossed that this treatment reverses his condition and sorts him out :(

Geeky and old, oops I mean experienced, triplets. Now a few more confessed to being spreadsheet geeks but is anyone else except you, HH and me going to admit to being old :D

I like your lightbulb idea but something makes me think that the CCs won't go for it :D

TTFTM - that's pretty 5hite isn't it? Do you think once you've spoken to the CCCS on Monday they'll be able to do anything on it in terms of getting the interest slashed again? I see it's put you in a difficult position.
    Back in the game...
  • Hi all,

TTFTM, that sucks mightily. Can I ask is it Blair, Oliver, Scott - the reason I'm wondering is that I rang them last week to get an update on my balances - i do this regularly - and they said 'oh, by the way, your agreements with us are coming to an end', I queried whether they were going to bother telling me this and they basically said no, because they say in an early letter that it will be periodically reviewed , they can do this anytime they like. I've got them to extend the agreement for another month to get a new income/outgoings thing thro CCCS. I hope you can get it sorted TTFTM

For any newbies, I did a blog about going on a dmp with cccs, you might find it interesting: http://moneyaware.co.uk/2011/09/my-debt-hell/
