    Ah thank u
Ok so first thing i do is change our banks?
I presume i can keep my own credit card whic has nothibg on!
I spoke to cccs about the whole joint liability household bills- i need to work out how much of my salary is paid towards these and advise accordingly- that makes more sense!

    Thanks again for help xx

Yes get a new bank account, one you don't have any debts with and make sure your salary is being paid into it before you start the process. OH's work's admin dept. is dreadful - the salary went into the old account, resulting in me having to make a quick dash to the bank to withdraw it all out in cash before they realised they weren't going to get any more money.

Not sure about the credit card. Usually it is not acceptable to take out more credit when on a DMP, but if it is only in your partners name I am assuming it doesn't apply to you personally so long as you pay your bit.

We used the Co-op but it is dependent on you or OH not having any debts with them.

Lots of people use the Co op and seem to like it and it is supposed to be ethical. I changed to First Direct. They seem OK although I am not under any illusions that they will be any different from any other bank.

If you aren't included in the DMP then I don't think the CC is a problem but it may be worth checking it out with CCCS if you are worried. Not sure about a joint or separate account, do you have a preference? We have a joint account but we are doing a joint DMP because we were joint numptys.

Hi TTFTM I have 2 ODs to go on my DMP both with lloyds TSB one is£1600 and one is £1400. I also have a loan with them for £2300 ( was£8500 originally ) and an Amex card with them for £5400 they don't know about the DMP yet as I am waiting to get my safe bank account sorted out. Do you have any advice on how to deal with them because the general consensus seems to be that they are less than helpful especially with ODs. I am getting really stressed about it and having trouble sleeping and concentrating. I don't know how I could cope it they piled loads of charges on my accounts:(

    Hi moohound :hello:

Please don't stress about it because all banks seem to treat all creditors in different ways. If you read these boards, you will see that Bank A treated me really badly and Bank B were super but the next poster had the exact opposite experience. I know it's difficult to do but you need to wait until they act and then take action.

It appears that most posters on a DMP can have some charges added at the start, though some people state that their DMP is accepted immediately and all interest is stopped. It just seems to be a lottery how an individual is treated.

Please don't take it for granted that you will be treated like me, in a few weeks you may be telling us "Lloyds TSB have been brilliant" and we will celebrate with you :j

If you tell us they are being terrible, we will try and help you deal with it :)

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Says it all for a few of us, I think.

On the flip side, though, we are now jointly fighting our war on our debt and it's brought us a bit closer.

Thanks for starting my day off with a giggle :D

    Hi Tigsmom :hello:
Totally out of the blue and with no prior related conversation, I screamed at my OH "We just can't do this any more", the poor man thought I wanted a divorce! :rotfl:

    :)

This made me laugh. My OH often completely misreads the situation. I can imagine it's what he would think too!
