  • Hi there

Im about to send all my info to CCCS (who co-op eventually send me my new account number). I have sent a token payment to creditors and told them CCCS will be in contact. MBNA have sent me a letter accepting the payment, and asking me to complete a basic SOA. Should I fill it in, or just tell them to contact CCCS?

    thanks x

Have you got a CCCS reference number yet? If so, supply that to MBNA and they will deal directly with CCCS. MBNA were the first company to lower our interest and have been super to deal with. Hopefully they will be the same with you :)

I made £96 which is great but I wanted to ask your honest opinion about something. Would you throw the extra £96 at your debts (which was my immediate intention), save it or would you buy some stuff at wholesale price to resell on ebay to potentially make more to throw at your debts?

My inclination would be to save it for a rainy day. I'm not too worried about paying the debt off at a rate of knots as I am hoping to be debt free in 3 years, but if my DMP was a long haul one I might be more concerned. I definitely would not buy more stuff - too risky.
The banks are not being fair to us, amd I mean all of us, not just me and my OH, so why should we be fair to them?

    Quite agree:D

The proper way to do it is to send it to CCCS, to be fair to your creditors. Fairness has gone out of the window with us and anything spare is paid off any debt still piling on interest.

We have made £70 on ebay this weekend. NatWest are piling on interest at about £70 per month so if we pay the entire £70 towards the NatWest debt, it will mean that this month's CCCS payment will actually make a difference to the debt. As soon as the NatWest OD is paid off, we still start doing the same with the Lloyds TSB then M&S.

The banks are not being fair to us, amd I mean all of us, not just me and my OH, so why should we be fair to them?

Oh I am totally with you on that I just wondered if you could do it sounds a good idea, as some of you may remember I am on here for my Sister in law, still early days for her with CCCS just looking at how things work so I know how to go about it all for her, only one very small debt has frozen the interest so far, looking at the big loan with TSB next she wont have missed a payment until 2st June as she had a payment holiday, think she will end up going the FOS way with them she has a PPI claim to sort first, the bank have really badly advised her she is the type just to totally trust the bank, very naive they even have her paying £410 contents ins for a 2 bed council house:eek: (I have got that down to £5.47 per month ) and they consolidated her loan every year just so her overdraft to them would be payed off, thankfully she came to me for help I am going to enjoy sorting them out:rotfl: she is very scared and nervous but at least she knows now NEVER to trust a bank.

    Hi,

If its a Halifax Credit Card you are talking about.......I don't pay interest. Mine has been transferred to Blair Oliver & Scott. Could be yours hasn't gone as far as that yet.

    Brogden.

Yes it is a CC and I have recently had a letter saying that the debt is being passed to BOS. If that means interest stops then bring it on:D

That's totally disgraceful, I hope you are successful in your case against them. Lots of people feel uneasy about going on a DMP because they feel a loyalty to their bank, especially if they have been with them for a long time. They soon learn that their bank has no loyalty towards them once they get into difficulties.

Definitely sounds like a case for the FOS.

Your family are very lucky to have you supporting them :T

Does anyone know of a basic bank account you can open online rather than going to a branch?

    Thank you.

I applied for a Barclays basic bank account online and was accepted however I have to go into a branch with my ID for them to complete the forms. Went in to do this and was told I need an appointment with an advisor to sign the form even though bank account has already been agreed!! Nobody else in the branch was willing to sign said they weren't authorised to:mad:

So in conclusion it is a waste of time applying on line coz you still need to go into the branch anyway:eek:

I went with The Co-op and I opened my account over the phone, they were great and even recommended a basic savings account to go with the cashminder account. They sent everything in the post. I can't sing their praises enough!!

    Hi Carla and welcome :)

I bet your debts aren't as bad as some of us here :o and our saviour Martin Lewis :money:always claims that there is a solution to every debt and that includes yours. Well done on taking the first and most difficult steps to sorting this out :T

Who are you arranging your DMP with? Firstly make sure it's a free service like CAB, Payplan or CCCS and not a fee paying DMP. You need every penny of your money to go towards paying your debts and not in some greedy company's pockets

There is no need for your DMP organiser to contact your employer. You may need to provide payslips but that will just be for your proof of income so they can calculate how much you can afford to pay towards your debt.

Can you try and get some maintenance from your ex via the child support agency?

I am sure someone else will be along with some more useful advice soon. This is a great place to get support, read others experiences or just to sound off when you are feeling down in the dumps. So stick around :)

Thanks for the support, I am sending my pack off tomorrow and have tomorrow off work to sort all my direct debits out and all my letters I have downloaded the template from cccs and am sending it to my creditors with a £1 token payment. My debts total 10489.00 and are made up of a loan with hsbc and 3 store cards, I am actually looking forward to starting the plan but am dreading all the threatening letters!!
I have tried with the csa but as my expartner is self employed they cant get hold of him and he is ignoring the letters so the maintenance looks like its never going to happen!!
