I've a confession to make, the CCCS forms are still sitting on my desk to post. :o

I know, I know but I will find out this week if I have a job come the end of September. I was holding off so that when I do send them in I have a complete picture. If it's good news they will be sent off with a straightforward letter, if it's bad news then I will have to explain what my salary will be up to end of September and after that who knows.

No wonder I'm feeling low today. I hate not being in control and having to play the waiting game. I have such a knot in the pit of my stomach. I guess life throws these curve balls and I guess it's all how we deal with them and whether we become stronger for it or end up a complete wreck.

Well I have received an email this afternoon confirming the set up of our DMP with CCCS with the first payment due on 1st June. I have also spoken to them and have set up payment details on hubby's bank account ready to make an extra payment at the end of the month of payday. I won't send all the overtime money as I'd like to keep a small cushion, say £200 in case of emergencies, does this seem ok? Extra payment may be 400 to Cccs!
    DMP start date 14/5/12. 1st payment 1/6/2012. TOTAL DEBTS = £24,087.00

I'm going to keep any overtime I make in a savings account. Partly for emergencies and also I dont want to keep making small extra payments to creditors as don't want to upset the DMP etc... so will wait until I have a lump sum to offer them now and again.

Had a letter from MBNA today (I have a Virgin CC) saying that following a review a restriction has been placed on my account and that no further transactions will be authorised.

Is there anything I need to do? I sent them a standard CCCS letter last week saying that I'm going on the DMP and I've already cut the card up.

Well I have finally done it today all the form are ready to post tomorrow and I have swapped all my direct debits over today and cancelled my debtor dd's. I am nervous but happy all at the same time!!
I am actually looking forward to cutting my cc's up and living on a budget after so long of living off cards.
CCS have been really helpful and I am glad I have actually made the first step to becoming debt free!!
    Good luck to everyone else!!:j

I'll let you into a secret, don't tell them and they won't know;) It is in my opinion (for what its worth) an absolute necessity to have some back up. You can reduce a payment to cover a big bill such as car repairs or a new washing machine but it is hassle. This is because when you do this you break the agreement originally set up when you started your DMP. So you might have to do some phoning and sending of letters to kickstart things again.

No nothing to do, its a standard letter saying you are not allowed to play any more:D

Hi 925pws, sorry you are feeling low but things will get better. Send those letters. Your creditors do not need to know the full picture. If things change with your job then tell them when it happens and rearrange your DMP accordingly. Get this DMP started, you will feel so much better when you have everything under control again:)

  • Hi all the new starters, going to CCCS four and a bit years ago was the best thing I ever did. I had debts of about £40k - made my final payment on the 1st May.

We can't wait until we can make a post like this and ours should be around the 4 year mark too! Success stories like yours are truly inspiring.

    Hi again friendly folks :)

Quick query. While on a DMP, are there options when mortgage deal runs out or have I no chance of getting another deal? I'm happy to stay with same lender even if it's not the best deal in the world.

    Thank you
