Good Afternoon
I have an interview this week and am now preparing. Just one thing about it that i havnt been able to find an answer. Of the Six competencies that there are i only had to complete five in the application process, will these be the same 5 that are covered at interview or could there be all 6?
Any other tips would be greatful aswell, just so i am not caught out!
Any help would be very much appreciated0 -

Have an interview next week...though my problem is that i haven't worked in over 2 years due mainly to health reasons.
Just really need to find out how to document this.
Thanks

Can any of the guys who have given their interviews please help: I have started to go through the competencies to prepare my examples but I am struggling tbh.
Can anyone tell me what order were you asked questions in i.e. Did they start from "Building capability"--the order mentioned on the application form or the order in which competencies are listed on their guidance notes. Also, I know others have asked this but can I confirm again whether the competency titled, "Analysing, Improving and Changing" was covered in the interview or is it just the other 5 we wrote on the app form. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks very much.0 -
Does anyone have any idea how many positions are available in the North West region and how many people they are going to be interviewing?
I have an interview for this region the week after next, and there are interview slots up until April 4th.
For all those worrying about their competency answers in the interview itself, I really think it's important not to over-think it before you go to your interview. If you try and plan your answers too much you will be focusing on remembering them and risk getting yourself flustered should you forget anything on the day. It also makes communication seem unnatural and laboured.
It's also very difficult to disguise the fact that you're trying to remember, so, while planning (of course) helps, don't over-plan. Having said that, different strategies work for different people, so in short, best of luck to everyone.0 -
Heres some things that might help with the interview......

It is only the 5 competences they ask you about, not the 6th one! Dont panic. They dont have a specific order in which they ask, but they do tell you what competence they will be asking about first then present you with a question regarding it.....
HERES THE INSIDE INFO
The competencies provide clear framework against which to make judgments. The panel needs to ensure questions are designed to elicit evidence of the competencies, that the same core questions are asked of each applicant and that the answers are assessed against the standards it has agreed.
Competency based selection is designed to gather evidence of past behaviours as an indicator of future behaviour. The most effective type of question is the past orientated question which is designed to ask applicants about what they did and how they did it etc. This is because past performance of how someone actually behaved in a job is the most effective predictor of how they will behave in the future. Some examples of possible behavioural questions are:
e.g. Building Capability Please give an example of how you worked with other people to achieve something What did you do? How did you do it?
e.g. Delivering a Customer Focused Service Please give an example of a time when you had to provide some help or give information to someone.
NB: These questions are intended as a guide only. Obviously, panels will put their own questions together once they have read the evidence provided by the
applicant and decided where they need to probe more. Questions should be based around the posts or grades being recruited for. The questions decided upon should be documented in the Interview Rating Booklet.
During the interview it is important to ensure that the applicant gives specific examples of their experience rather than them talking in general terms. For example, an interviewer might ask about when the applicant has recently developed a team member. If the applicant then talks in general terms about how they deal with development, the interviewer needs to ask a follow-up question to draw a specific example out of the applicant. For example:
“It sounds as if you have a lot of experience developing people. Can you describe the most recent situation where you have worked to develop an individual?”
It is important to ensure that the example given by the applicant is relevant to the competency that you are concentrating on. If the applicant’s example does not answer the question then as interviewers you should try to steer the applicant in the right direction by either restating or clarifying the question.
Alongside the example questions for each competency there are some suggested follow up ‘prompt’ questions which can be asked to encourage the applicant to describe the situation, their behaviour and the outcome.
There is no limit on the number of follow up/prompt questions you can ask. You should ask as many as are reasonable [without “grilling” the applicant if they are unable to provide an example] to ensure that you have given the applicant enough opportunity to provide all the information needed to make an accurate assessment.
Any follow up questions asked should be noted on the Interview Rating form.0 -
Hi tsimehC, did they tell you at the interview whether number of vacancies have been increased from 50 in East London. I only ask as my friend went for her interview yesterday and was told so but she couldn't remember to how many.0
