Finally ive registered... Still waiting for Black Country, Staffs on hold since last week, Brum scores 4,3,3,4,3. Brum scores were disapointing if you take into consideration i was on FTA last year. Comps were also used in the interview and app for that recruitment. But it now seems as if i dont have what it takes to work for DWP. Wow!!! The whole thing is frustrating, i refuse to take it as a reflection of my abilitys. I did get some feedback which advised me i did not put enough information in. 200 words to give a scenario what happened how it happened and what the conclusion was... and to tick all the boxes on the comp info. hmmm i would like to see the people that gave such low marks write something better.. Oh well i guess thats the way the cookie crumbles.. Just at to have my little moan.. sorry if youve heard it all before. veryyyy frustrating!!!

I really understand what you mean. If you don't mind me asking when did you get your Birmingham scores

C/S is still a cushy number in comparison to private companys. Ive worked at both and no which one i would rather work for.
I think its just a sign of the times and companys want as much as they can get from their workforce. Sign of the times!!!

You are probably right! Such a shame though, I had some fantastic times in those days. Being drunk after a session at lunchtime always resulted in being tucked up in bed in the sick room for the afternoon!

And the policy for promotion was that someone who was no good at their job was moved on to another location at the taxpayers expense, given a promotion and the guy became someone elses headache. You could never be sacked even if you were useless, as long as you didn't have a conviction for theft you just got moved around the country.

I got them last Tuesday (I think).. Really disapointed with the marks and i found the feedback quite patronising (or maybe im just extra sensative). Well onwards and upwards, waiting for my rejection email just for confirmation jusdging by the posts ive got no chance.

Hi everyone - thanks for feedback on my competencies- Luckily I got an email yesterday and have my interview booked for sat 25th at 9am so fingers crossed! Does anyone have any idea of what to expect at interview? I have seen it will be competency based again so can I use previous app ones or should I write new? I have always been given interview guidance info before a DWP int before - seems a bit strange not to get it this time! x

Hi everyone,

Well I received an email today at 12 noon inviting me to an interview for the Thames Valley area!

Odd thing is my scores have not been updated so I only have my test results in that area. Guessing they are using the scores from my other area.

Thank you everyone for all your advice and support. Now I just need to get some advice on interviews for the DWP.
Hi, I got an email today as well, interview but no competency score. I have not applied to any other area so I have no idea how well or badly I wrote them.

Thank you! I was so delighted!

Although I still haven't received my competency scores and not only am I curious in general about those, but I would also want them back to help prepare for interview so I can gage which points I should improve on etc. I think I'll give the recruitment line another ring tomorrow...

No problem - do let me know how you get on! I got the e-mail inviting me to interview from this address: essr.northeast@dwp.gsi.gov.uk.

Keep checking! I got the e-mail yesterday even though I called the recruitment line on Friday and they told me that I would definitely not get an update until after next week.

Good luck, Chara!!!

Hi EKR, I am now in the same situation but relieved I have at least reached the interview stage. My email came from the same address as yours, thanks for letting me know what it was.

I have a special talent for screwing up at interview, nerves take over and I go blank then talk gibberish, this is after years of interviewing others so no excuse.

I guess this recruitment is just another example of taxpayers money wasted. Its a crying shame, if they had listened to the unions in the beginning to extend the FTA's contracts it could of been money used to wipe some of the debt the goverment keep harping on about. But that is way to logical for Civil Service. Dont get me wrong i loved working for CS but feel they waste an awful amount of money. ( Just my humble pov)
• I just wanted to ask to those have had an interview invite and have booked your slot..there are then links posted under the application status such as pension questionnaire, important info etc...has anyone had a problem with accessing these?

Just wondered because when I try to open any of them, the address bar just comes up with about:blank.

...No takers?...:(

Wait - so you think DWP and the Civil Service in general has gone downhill because you can't get drunk at lunctime and because you don't get promoted for being awful at your job?

@wandafish - why rise to it? its supposed to be a funny comment please dont take it so seriously - the bottom line is by all accounts some offices used to be like that years and years ago! and i'm talking about when people were allowed to smoke at work - (I have heard the same stories) it's not anymore, and the person who posted that comment no longer works in the department - times change and people move on - lets get this thread back to what its supposed to be about :)
