Is there a packing note? That will sort out what should be included.. But OP, you need to stay out of this. If you contact Orange, you will be your daughter's agent whcih will weaken your position when it comes to the parcel, because quite reasonably they can say they delivered it to you as your daughter's agent.

  • update on this.
i have looked at the invoice and it says that there was
    iphone 4s 16gb white quantity 1
    ipad 2 white- 3g+wifi 16 gb ( built) quantity 1
    standard (foc) ? quantity 1

so it seems there should have been an iphone in the box.
my daughher has phoned orange to day and they have said that she needed to fill out a disclaimer which she has.
orange have also said that all parcels are weighted at all different stage of the journey so they will be checking into that. ( hopefully they will then be able to tell where the phone went missing.)
i have kept all bags, cards etc.

i havent spoken to orange myself i am leaving it to my daughter to try to deal with her self.
just another thing orange have said that they will be charging her the full monthy charge even though she hasnt had the phone is this right.??
my daugher has also asked orange if the phone has been activated, orange have said that it hasnt.
however someone told my daugher that if who ever has taken the phone uses their own SIM card the phone wouldnt show up.
i am clueless about all this ( i am stil using an old Nokia my self)

"Standard (foc)" refers to the postage, standard postage, free of charge.

Regarding the phone, Orange will already have blocked the IMEI and the phone is rendered useless no matter what SIM card is put in it. As for being untraceable if another SIM is used in it, what rubbish! If the phone was still unblocked (it won't be) then the networks would be able to track it's approxiamate location. As I said, it will already be IMEI blocked anyway making it useful as nothing more than a doorstop.

And I'm afraid that your daughter is liable for and will have to pay the monthly payments at least until this mess is sorted out. :(

I think it's more than likely they are saying this to put you off a claim incase you're acting fraudulently tbh. I would be very surprised indeed if the courier company weighed the parcel at different intervals, more likely throw them between esculators, in a cage and wheel them in the lorry.

It is ridiculous that when an item is sent to a business address, it is considered 'signed unseen', but when delivered to a residential address, the whole thing changes to one of 'accepted uninspected'.

Orange are terrible when it comes to customer service anyway. You will need the stamina and determination of an SS Stormtrooper to beat them.

FYI, I don't think a 4 inch cut would be big-enough to remove a phone in a box with the manuals and accessories through. Just the iPhone on it's own maybe, but in a box with charger etc., I don't think it can fit myself.

I phones do not come in a huge box...fwiw I think a 4 inch slot is easily large enough to wiggle an iphone though. My iphone box is barely wider than my iphone....+

Ok, I just had mine delivered today so had the bag anyway and just put a 4inch cut in it with scissors.

I could not pass the box through without stretching the plastic over the end, once i'd done so you could see that the plastic on the edges of the slit had been stretched and were no longer thin clean cuts. Hope that makes sense and helps.

You need to speak to Consumer Direct as according to "Moneybox" the sender is liable!!

I’ve opened the parcel, it should have two items, it’s clearly only got one.

clearly the item didn’t go in, so you know it must have been the person sending it who’s at fault

you have to go back where you started and say you promised me two items. There is only one and you’re liable.
LEWIS: Yes, so it is the sender who’s liable. I think that is a very important message to get over: even if the Post Office lost it or somebody nicked it or whatever, it’s the sender who is liable.

Can't the Iphone imei be reprogrammed and used abroad?? Not the concern of the o/p anyway.

I agree with most on here ....It is the senders fault - YOU WERE supposed to receive 2 items - You received 1 - No matter weather you signed or not - THEY HAVE NOT SENT YOU 2 ITEMS as you are aware . And part of there problem {if it has gone missing in the post or not } - It is there duty to choose a delivery company whom they trust - as it is there loss NOT YOURS .

I also would have assumed a large company like orange would have sent these items in separate packages due to the value of the goods , however you have proof they say they did send them together , so I guess them trying to save money has just caused you alot more hassle and them money

  • hi good people on here.
just a quick update on current situation
my daughter filled out the disclaimer stating exactly what had happened and was told that
the ' security team' would look into it to see if it was a valid claim.
any way until today no response. nobody wanted to talk to me, nobody requested the bag or the card ( which i have still saved.
any way my daughter informs me that orange have been in touch and would be sending her a new phone this wednesday.
so a result, i was so prepared for more of a fight to be honest.
so thank you all so much for your help.
