AVIVA International With-Profit Bond

FTSE may be down 5.7% but there's a 3-4% yield to offset.
If you assume that yield pays the annual bonus (it doesnt but its a similar figure in this case) then that still leaves you over 5% down. I just checked a few Aviva plans and they are all down around 4-5%. The figure is relatively consistent with market returns.Aviva Balanced Managed is down around 4% Y-O-Y so I would have expected, with smoothing, the reduction in return on WP to be less.
If you look at the long term returns on the balanced managed fund, you tend to find the WP fund is not too different.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). What vested interest do I have? I must be missing out on something here and would appreciate you telling me what it is.
ehhhhhmmmm how about the vested interest where you make your living selling these types of investments?
are you paid to make pro IFA posts? call me a conspiracy theorist, but it wouldn't surprise me if you were.....0 -
investment bonds and endomwents etc see a weird investmet to me. you give money to an investment firm and they manage it for 20 years. they give annual "bonuses" etc then at the end of it they ignore the bonuses and give you whatever they feel like.
you then read about the billions the insurers have in orphan assets....0 -

What makes you think I provide these types of investments? My fee is the same irrespective of the product or investments used.nvestment bonds and endomwents etc see a weird investmet to me. you give money to an investment firm and they manage it for 20 years. they give annual "bonuses" etc then at the end of it they ignore the bonuses and give you whatever they feel like.
Investment bonds are a tax wrapper. Not an investment. Endowments would be today if they still existed. Investment bonds can hold identical investments to an S&S ISA and at same cost. You seem to be mixing up a type of investment fund with a tax wrapper. We know from your past threads that you cant tell the difference in these things. Maybe if you spent more time reading and taking in what is said rather than to post pointless accusations and misinformation, you would begin to understand it.re you paid to make pro IFA posts? call me a conspiracy theorist, but it wouldn't surprise me if you were.....
Its a shame that any attempt to instil balance into a conversation is pounced on by a small number to create arguments.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). ehhhmmm well IFAs only seem to sell investments that create commission?
you must have a very understanding employer if they think it's ok for you to spend all day on the internet posting on MSE. I might look into becoming an IFA, it does seem an easy life.
I'll just have to get some christmas crackers and see if i get lucky with an IFA qualification.0 -

I would recommend people visit the offices of these organisations. The ones I visited were fairly lavish, and the problem was in the car parks – rows and rows of expensive Company Cars – it set me thinking about the cost base of these companies.
I don’t have a problem at all with reward, but judging by the comments here it does not seem totally linked to policy owner’s hard-earned money.
Ps I don’t work in the financial sector and have not made or lost money with these types of Companies. So I don’t think I have a vested interest!0 -
one person on this thread defending these investments is an .......IFA0

I agree with dunstonh, there are WP bonds out there that have underperformed however there are also ones which have been gems.
I work for friends life (previously axa sunlife) and have seen WP bonds that have more than doubled in value since inception I have also seen ones making only about £500 on a £10,000 investment investment over 10 years you can't simply tar the whole investment type with one brush.
You seem to have a grudge against IFAs in generall, what qualifications do you feel they should gain before being authorised to give advice?0
