What mobile network is DD3 on? If Orange, get yourself a Orange SIM Card (PAYG) and add her as your magic number. Then, calls between each of you will be free! You can add a new Magic Number every 6 months.
I was thinking of going contract SIM only as I thought it would be cheaper for me than payg. I will have to find out what network DD3 is on. I am getting confused about all this - just want/need to save money as now retired.

There's no problem phoning mobiles as long as you do it out of your inclusive allowance on your own tariff (if you switch to contact). No landline tariff gives inclusive calls to mobiles.
If you are spending more than £5 a month on landline calls then it's cheaper to be on an Anytime tariff.
But without knowing what you are on and what you are currently paying, it's not really possible to advise.
I think that we are on a business tariff for both lines.

The magic number sounds good - trouble is - I have a lot of children take me a while to get them all added! :)

What is your average monthly expenditure on PAYG?
Why don't you get the landline bills out instead of guessing? If you are on a business tariff then of course you will be paying a lot more.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Thanks - I had a quick look here - what is a booster?
    http://www.chitterchatter.co.uk/simonly.php

After selecting a plan you'll be given an opportunity to select one of 9 free 'boosters' available, one of which being 'unlimited landline calls'.
