La senza vouchers not being honoured !

Hi all
I am absolutely infuriated, I have 100 pounds La Senza voucher which it seems I cannot use.
La Senza website is down, customer service call centre is not open, the head office in Hayes just put me through to customer services (which is closed) and Brent Cross La Senza told me that they are not accepting any vouchers ! What are my rights? Surely there are thousands of vouchers that are not being honoured!
Thanks !

They're in administration, so I'm afraid you're probably on a hiding to nothing.
If the vouchers were bought with a credit card or debit card you could see if they can recall the payment.
If not, you can register yourself as a credit with the administrators, and when the company is wound up they will pay you a certain amount of pence in the pound, but don't expect much back.
The reason they won't accept is that the reason for administration is to pull as much cash in as possible, and gift vouchers are pre-paid so they'd be essentially giving stock away for nothing. They want cash for goods that leave the shop.0 -
Thanks, how depressing...! It's so unfair, teaches me a lesson though. No point spending cash on a pretty plastic card which essentially has no real value. Cash under the mattress is the way forward in these troubled times..!0

They did have a page on their website stating that gift vouchers should be redeemed as soon as possible between December and yesterday, when the site went down, which is why I redeemed mine. They did manage to get it wrong, and charged my debit card rather then the gift card (the website wouldn't let me continue without entering debit card details to pay for the delivery fee, which it wouldn't take off the gift card) so I'm stuck too.
60 of the shops were bought yesterday, so the website might come back, but it's unlikely at the moment. I'd instigate a charge back against the card used to buy it - the only problem will be if it was bought in store for cash, but for £100 that seems unlikely.0 -
Yes it does seem unfair, and I think something should be done about it.
I remember this happening with other stores previously.
My daughter wanted gift vouchers for Christmas but I refused to get them for her, I gave her the cash instead. I would be very wary of gift vouchers altogether in this economic climate.0 -
You may get something back if there is money to pay unsecured creditors (usually very little). Never give gift cards, if you get them or a credit note etc always use them asap.0

Cash under the mattress seems to be the only way these days.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - it can't be easy to hear. I learned this the hard way with an out of date Argos gift card, too.0 -
Thanks so much for all the supportive comments. I do feel such a fool to be honest. Obviously I had heard about the administration but as the stores continued to trade I just didn't act quick enough. Was going to treat myself today !!! You live and learn and win and lose !!!
I won't give up however, as far as I'm concerned that gift card is worth 100 quid and I'm going to fight !!!!0 -

In case you missed that comment. See the S75 and Chargeback articles linked at the top of this forum.0 -
People are selling these vouchers on ebay. Unlucky for anyone who buys them.0

I've just got back from La Senza in Westfield and I'm in a similar situation. I feel slightly more cheated however because the gift voucher I was trying to use wasn't purchased - it was given to me 2 months ago by the store manager when I came to return a FAULTY ITEM.
As the item was faulty I was well within my rights to receive a full refund but they were unable to process it at the time and offered me a gift voucher instead. I knew I was going to shop there again so I told them I didn't mind (more fool me!!)
It clearly states on the receipt that the item I returned was faulty - surely I'm entitled to a refund? (or an exchange at least!) Can anyone offer me any advice on what to do?
Thank you in advance.
PS. I feel for you Bestbabo!!! It’s really out of order they can do this to customers!! We haven't done anything wrong!0
