I was looking at the Gaia House retreats, but decided I'm not quite enlightened enough for sharing a room, no books and no talking to do 5 days there yet !
Baby steps I think to start, so I'm going to an informal 'sitting group' tonight and another one day retreat in a few weeks time.
I hope everyone is finding their meditations helpful.0 -

Hi everyone,
Not being quite so 'disciplined' with my 2 daily sessions. Have just this minute re-committed. Tee hee....
I have the tendency to coast along when there's no apparent crisis or big anxiety. Spent time with a friend seriously ill with cancer today. If that isn't a wake up call I don't know what is.
Hope all is well in everyone's world and even if it's not we're managing to be mindfull in the midst of it all."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
I saw the Leeds one hun, but am away at a gig that weekend:( There isn't much in my area at all yet, but I think it's definitely becoming more popular:):D
What area are you in Candygirl? I think I might attend the Leeds retreat. My mind has been tormenting me with fearful thoughts all day so a 6.5 hour retreat sounds amazing! I like the sound of Gaia House too, will have to check that one out...
Armchair: Please let us know how your informal sitting session goes this evening, sounds really good!
Joyfull: I'm sorry to read about your friend. That must have been a shock to the system. I think spending time with someone who is ill really brings you into the present. When I am with my grandma, who is very ill, I have a newfound appreciation of life and look at things differently. It's just sad it takes something horrible to happen before a change of perspective comes about.
I was thinking about beginning a kind of 'blog' about mindfulness, what does everyone think? I have never done anything like that before but would really like to document my experiences and have somewhere where people can discuss their own experiences as I have done a search for general mindfulness forums and haven't found anything as yet. Let me know what you think.0 -
I'm in Preston Lancs hun, and yep the blog sounds fab:D

Where was the course held? I was just looking at a course that requires participants at Bangor University. Bit of a trek so I'd be interested in finding out if there are any closer to home.0 -

For those having a quick scan through or just starting out you can look on these sites for details on classes, retreats or info. You can also google 'vipassana' and see if anything comes up near you run in a Buddhist centre.

There's also lots of 'guided meditations' hidden away on these sites and on places like youtube. Kabatt Zinn is a given, he's the daddy of MSBR.
This is one of my favourites

Sorry to all of you lot who know this already but, just in case there are some newbies joining us.0
