Thanks Armchair, I appreciate that. I went to one in December and really benefitted from it. I hope this one is just as good as I am realy down just now. I'm also planning to re-read Mark William's book and re-start the 8 week course after the retreat. Mindfulness is definitely something I need to keep up.0

Struggling here too. Body weak and exhausted, struggling to earn a living, tax credits may be pulled, anxiety levels hitting extreme at times.
Oh a day of silence - how absolutely delicious. I find having to relate to people so tiring.
Just this breath, just this breath - it seems the only reliable constant in this life - until the body gives up. That's a whole other mystery......
I'm off to lie down with my little mp3 mindfullness recording - my best friend."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -

I hear you! I'm sorry things are so difficult for you at the moment. I am currently looking for a job (have been for a few months now) and worrying about money a lot, have nothing to do and desperate for some work. I also find it very hard and tiring to relate to others but when I am alone (as I am most of the time), my mind won't give me peace. It's exhausting and I don't know why my 'inner voice' is always giving me a hard time. I hope your mindfulness session goes well. I'd also like to do some mindfulness but have a 3 hour drive ahead of me. I'm hoping to do some later on. xx0 -
Hi everyone
I work for the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice in Bangor and am so pleased to read on here that many of you are finding mindfulness based interventions of help to you all. For those of you struggling, be kind to yourself, it is very worth it.
We are just about (this afternoon in fact) to issue our very first newsletter which will be available on the Bangor CMRP website (sory can't paste a link as I am a new user and this is not permitted) - hopefully it will help you all keep in touch with what we are up to here in Bangor.
Lovely to read some positive comments, wishing you all well

Hi Sharon,
Thank you for your post. First of all, you have my dream job! I'd love to work for the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice and am hoping to be able to teach mindfulness when I complete my MSc at Aberdeen Uni. I will definitely be signing up to the newsletter you mentioned. I agree that we should all be kind to ourselves. I don't know about everyone else, but for me, this presents a major challenge! Being kind to other people comes naturally, being kind to myself is somehow a lot more difficult. I don't know why that is but it is definitely a habit I would like to break. I'm hoping mindfulness practise will allow me to cultivate some self-compassion. Watch this space! xx0 -
Another struggler here.......had a horrible week, relationship problems with OH and haven't done any yoga or meditation. Feel really down and emotional and know it will help me, but just can't seem to settle......x0

Evening
I am in the middle of a mindfulness & meditation course. It's a one on one course and I go to the ladies home. it's lovely and relaxed and i look forward to my sessions so much i'll be quite sad when my last one is over next week!
My teacher said to me not to rely on music so much so i have learned how to switch off & meditate with background noise (usually just outside) and it's fantastic it really has changed my outlook when i do it every day....I've not read all the way through this thread yet but will have a look tomorrow
I'm also going to do a reiki course in March & can't wait -the meditation was just grounding for it. But i'm really happy that i did do it on it's own now

Hi MC,
I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've had, sounds like a really tough week. I know you probably don't feel like it, but if you have even ten minutes, it might be a good idea to do some mindfulness. I had been having a difficult day and decided to do some mindfulness. It definitely uplifted me. I am still feeling a little stressed and frazzled but definitely less so than before. I hope next week is better for you xx0 -

Hi DFW,
Welcome! May I ask where abouts your mindfulness course is? I have never heard of a one-on-one course before and would be very interested in this. Is it an 8 week course? I usually put my earplugs on or noise-cancelling headphones as I get quite stressed when there is background noise (dogs barking, children screaming intermittently: not good for my anxiety). Reiki also sounds interesting, I hope you'll stick around and update us on the course! xx0 -

Hi G,
Oh you & I seem spookily similar. Where is that blooming 'off switch' for all that obsessive thinking? I'm truly discovering, only because I'm truly desperate, that just one moment being aware of the sensation of breath is one moment of freedom from the suffering and it's ALWAYS right here. It's tempting to think in terms of 'I must do my 20 or 40 mins of mindfullness' & then being assailed by thoughts of failure when we 'don't measure up'. In the midst of planning he next mindfullness session just notice the breath - then we get lost in thought again for another hour. Doesn't matter - next time we remember just notice the breath (or whatever method you use).
I feel great warmth to all who are sharing in this journey. It's an epic undertaking. Far easier perhaps to swallow some pills or get hammered to try to escape this human suffering. I see mindfullness as the willingness to just BE with the whole thing as it's arising - quite vulnerable & open & scary.
And, I'm in no way judging anyone who choses the pill / alcohol route. None of us knows what another goes through. We're all just doing our best."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0
