    they must have changed something

my Halifax standing orders have always left my account at close of business on the day i want them to go

e.g. standing order set up for 1st of every month wont leave my account til approx 3pm on the 1st

last month i went to cashpoint on the morn, checked my balance and withdrew what was available

then when i went online i noticed the standing order hadnt gone through yet so i rang them... the woman was as stroppy as usual (am also "cat C") saying i had until 2pm to get the money into the account for the standing order

i made the suggestion of cancelling it and she said i could do that which i did online - and they didnt attempt to pay it

this was on the same day at about 1pm !

dont think they are going to be sympathetic on this one though unfortunately, as the website does state u need blah blah blah notice

they are basically just rubbish IMO

no customer service or even people skills whatsoever

The Halifax have changed their practices, even if they deny it. I have also found that payments that have been regular for years are suddenly changing dates and things are not as I had set them up.

Got to say that I also find that the Halifax online service is a joke. There is very little customer control and trying to transfer funds from a Halifax account to another bank is nigh on impossible! I keep getting logged out when I try to do that!

I honestly think banks are cyclical. They have a certain approach for a while and are fine, but then management decisions are made ehich are not in their customers interests and situations like Catalonia13's arise. It does seem unfair as it does sound as if you were being organised about your finances. I used to love the Halifax, but not anymore. Maybe we can develope a way of "scoring" the banks so that we know which ar the best at any given time.

As consumers we seem to have so few rights. At least we do have Martin and this site to turn to.

  • I'd really wlecome Martins' thoughts on this one, like do I have any right to complain, or is there no point, anyone think it's be ok to ask him?

Maybe if you want to have more control of your standing orders you would be better off cancelling them and setting them up as bill payments instead.
That way you would have more control.

That's weird, I've just checked my Halifax account and my CTC have gone in too! They always go in on a Friday!

Don't know quite what they are playing at but something funny is going on.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

  • Moggins - well I'm glad to hear it's not just me! :)

Richardmk - thats a great idea, nice one, thank you, I have 14 SO's so will take a little time each week but anythings better than todays experience!

Judi - I didn't think he did, he'd be here all night! hence my reason for asking you guys if it'd be ok!

and thanks to eveyone who has taken the time to reply, I am going to write a letter of complaint though I doubt it'll get me anywhere.
