  • Thanks YorkshireBoy.

Strange, I have still managed to open it with a pound! Its def open and showing on my lloyds account list. Also they allowed me to open my save the change thing with the account number and sort code of the new account.

There was no mention of £250 in the save the change terms. I might pop £250 in there to be on the safe side.

Buy something for 1p from eBay, such as penny ebooks. These have free delivery and you can pay quickly with paypal. Make sure the paypal payment is linked to your current account debit card though.

Be careful about buying items for 1p on ebay with no postage. Ebay views these as feedback scams to generate quick and easy positive comments. I registered an account at the same time as a friend for a laugh and had a race to see who could hit 100 first. I got to 25 then got suspended.

  • :T Yee ha, I already have a Lloyds current account. I've just opened an online saver and regsitered for the scheme today. It's now showing up on my account screen with my other accounts but It said that I will receive confirmation. Does anyone know if I will start gaining the extra rounded up cash straight away i.e. today?
One more wee questions, I just paid £1.01 off my egg money bill (which I pay in full each month anyway). Does anyone kow if this will qualify? If so, I'll be doing it everyday.

I think that it would be useful if we created a thread with a list of all the ways to maximise the cashback.

    Thanks fro your help :T

    Yes, it does.

Numerous techniques discussed in the thread referred to above.
  • Would depositing money in Icesave Savings also work?

The Icesave site says that the deposit is made via a one-off "Direct debit"... is that the same as a Debit card payment?
  • 3p carrier bags sold at certain supermarkets!

Carrier bags are bad for the environment so please make sure you have a use for them!

thepearce - Thanks for mention  (I feel famous!! :D ) , however I think the credit for the original post has to go to Stacey21:

  • I mentioned it on the other thread, but will stick it on here too. 1p ebooks may get you blocked. But transfering 0.01p from your personal paypal account (the one that doesn't charge fees) to your 'business' (ie: money receiving one) works.

The 1p gets absorbed as a paypal fee, but gets transferred over and successfully triggers a 99p sweeping. You can even refund all the 1ps and get them back once change is swept if you are so inclined, making it a totally free £50 (minus tax).

Just don't do more than 15 a day or your card will get blocked. This is the easiest way to make the £50 I know of as you don't even have to leave the house and it just takes a few clicks and back-browses.
  • Hi Folks

To answer a few of your questions:

If you do not have £250 to open the Online Saver Account you can start the Guaranteed Tracker with £1. This also has instant access to your savings and no withdrawal restrictions. It's not as good a rate but this does not matter in the short term. Although the Monthly Saver can be opened with £1 this does not work with the Save The Change scheme.

We have spoken to Lloyds about the chance of getting a block on a card from a high number of transactions in one day, and there is no magic figure to avoid. They just look for any fraudulent activity which is why Martin suggests spreading out your payments.

Finally, we realise there are a few threads on this scheme already and want to thank everyone who contributed, but Martin's post was a summary of the other threads for people who do not have the time to read them all. We also like to start a new thread when something goes in the weekly tip and the idea was for this one to list ideas for spending over the pound mark.

    Keep saving!

My save the change is £30 on one account and £25 on the other. I find Egg, William Hill (min deposit £2.01 - no need to gamle it!) and Tesco Pay at Pump (less embarassing)to be the easiest. My wife is doing it too, so we should net £240 over the two months. If you have multiple accounts you need to make sure each goes to a different nominated savings account. The on line saver at 4.5% is best but you need £250 to get that % (lousy otherwise) Not the best rate but oK for a couple of months to net easy money

    Good luck to all MSEs

    Hi zooropa

I just wondered how you were going to be getting £240.00 between the two of you? Wouldn't it be £200.00 (before tax)?

Just want to make sure I'm not missing a trick!

Sounds like zooropa has two current accounts and his wife has only one. :D
