  • I have used Quicken for the last 14 years and have just purchased a new Chromebook, but unfortunately I am unable to install Quicken. Does anyone know of something that will work with a Chromebook?

I've gone from gnucash to money manager. Very customisable, and awesome reporting it's even possible to write your own SQL reports.

Although I do not use all of the features in Quicken, I have 2001 Deluxe(UK version).
It installs perfectly well in Windows 7 and I have no problems.
I would be nice to have a updated version but that seems unlikely.

Hi. Your information is encouraging... I have been without my beloved Quicken since I graduated to a new WIN 7 Pc two years ago. I read plenty on the US websites which were not very nice about QUICKEN 2012/2013 at the time and I have been doing it all the hard way since then.
Reading the quote above I dug out my Q2000 deluxe disk (including my Y2K compatibility disk) and tried to install it ... NO CHANCE... Somehow, the disks show QBOOKS not Quicken... How can that be?
Trying to install takes me to QBOOKS. What a puzzle.
How do I get past this or am I condemned to buying a Yankee version (Quicken 201/2015)..
    Help please.

As an ex-Quicken fan, I can say that Moneydance does everything Quicken did but with better cross-platform and UK support.

Hi, Thinking to use moneydance - how secure it is to use? Obviously all internet banking details will be inputted in - worried if something goes wrong bank will blame me for providing the details to 3rd party?

    Thanks

Hi everyone... I am a long term user of MS Money (the file goes back to 2004) - it has saved us thousands over the years. Windows is now insisting we go to Windows 10 and other forums are talking about altering registery keys to make Money work on 10 - then other posts say " it worked for a day or two, then stopped". Basically (and very reluctantly) I think it is time to move to another package. Even if I avoid the 10 upgrade, within 2 years WIndows 11 will make running Money even more problematic.
It has to support multiple accounts, pensions and several buy to let properties, as well as manage a household budget... AND above all be able to import all that MS Money data.

I nearly hit the buy it now on the Quicken product... but then reading this thread I am not so sure - what are the current suggestions?

    Thanks
    Adam

I can vouch for AceMoney, which is essentially a carbon copy of MS Money and - crucially - has a superb guide for importing from MS Money.

I've been using it for several months now and after the small initial 'getting used to it' hurdle, it's now second nature.
  • MS Money works fine in Windows 10. You may require a small patch program, which can be downloaded, but after that everything is fine.

Thank you Easymoney, how long has Money been working with windows 10 for you? There are just so many posts on Windows site with people saying it worked fine... then suddenly it stopped

    Thanks
