OS Daily Monday 9th January

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 9th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
I'm having PC probs this morning but just wanted to pop on & wish Beth good luck for today.
I have a cuppa & scrambled egg in front of me.
Hubby & I will be setting off to work soon.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

  • Hope you have a good day too, Hester.

I had a lovely sleep last night although it ended with very peculiar dreams - who'd buy a dress (made of white flowers) for £849 in a cafe in Dundee? It was a beautiful dress mind you!

Today's plan is to get the house cleaner-ready then do an hour of housework myself (cleaner is very close to being sacked but I need to get my own a*se in gear first or I shall end up living in a hovel). After that it's reading (Tom Wright, Virtue Reborn) and knitting (a blanket/receiving shawl for SANDS). Sammy-cat needs to visit the vet this afternoon for his booster so I'll have to walk up to my mum's after lunch and borrow the car, take the cat to the vet and then return the car to her and walk home so that will be my exercise sorted!

Hope everyone else has a good, money-saving day!

  • Morning :)

So I am due today **looks around for Baby Roo** nope still not here!

I am upset that I gained a whole 2lbs this week (8lbs weight gain in 1 month after 6 months of not gaining 1lb!!!! and 2 months of loosing 21lbs!!) I am gaining weight at such a FAST rate (when all the books say it should stop, or you should loose weight right now) and I have water retention (not sure if this is swelling as my knee is hurting a LOT! I think it's a mix of hormones and my osteo-arthritus playing up!) Any of you smart people know why my body is going nuts right now???

DH predicts that within 2 weeks i'll loose a stone! HAHA!

Well today I have the PM school run, apart from that... I have no idea! Washing and the BM need putting on I suppose!

Hope everyone has a good day x
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

Morning everyone -early start for me again.

HH - is it today your hubby starts his new job? If so hope it all went well.

JG - Enjoy your last days of being babyless!

I'm off now for a week - jammed in loads of meetings down south this week, and so ends the slackness of the festive season. The fridge is almost run down apart from milk and a few veggies which will, I'm sure, still be there when I get back.

I hope everyone has a good week with plenty of OS stuff, plenty of good stuff and nothing too much bad happening.

    Morning :hello:

    Oh oh oh :j I've just weighed myself and I've lost 5lbs :j :j
    Happy Birthday mummysaver :bdaycake: :D
    Good luck Beth

The chickens are enjoying themselves on the veg patch :D We sold some eggs yesterday - my moneybox has grown by £7.20.

I've been slowly decluttering. If I do it too quickly, the others notice things are missing, lol. I'll carry on with that today.

Our debt free date was Jan 2013, last month I re-jiggled so we could pay it off by Dec 2012. Not sure if we're going to manage it now :( Mr tru tends to spend what's 'spare' - though he has improved a bit lately, lol. I'm thinking of stealing money from our account and hiding it, putting it back in in a lump sum in November then immediately sending it off. Hopefully there'll be enough to pay it off. Will be playing with speadsheets today :D

Morning all - best of luck Beth and fingers crossed JG.

SCHOOL today - YIPEEEEEEEE can you tell I'm a mum of two very energetic school aged boys?!!! I can't wait until 9am! I have an appointment with the chiropractor today for my neck (she's worked wonders!) and then I'll spend the rest of the day sorting out the washing in the house and clearing my bedroom. Weighed self today - want to lose 1 1/2 stone by half term in February. Should be possible - with careful eating and exercise and being sensible. I find it really difficult to get below 12 stone 10. No idea why, but by half term I should be well under that!

Right coffee needs refilling and I need to get on to get the children ready for school! Hope everyone has a good day. x
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

tru opening another account for savings really doesn't sound like a bad idea!

Morning everyone. OH just left for work and I'll be off too after my scrambled eggs. I have my first exam friday  I'm getting a wee bit scared now, the task of applying for masters and graduate schemes is also pretty daunting and not helped by the fact that "statistics masters" searches don't exactly bring up what I want :rotfl:
I feel a bit silly as last night I found an Asda receipt which gets me £5 off a shop but I don't have time to use it. Does anyone have any ideas for what to do with it? I'd rather give it to someone than bin it but how?? Is there a board somewhere for it?

Morning all. Mild and dry here today so early morning dog walk was not a hardship. Dog was pleased as he met one of his 'friends' and had a chase round. Breakfast eaten and lunch made so off to school.
Good luck to Beth and hope everything goes well Bramble
keep doing those star jumps JG:j
Hugs to all who need them and have a good day.
Well done on the weight loss Tru. Back to the healthy eating and exercise for me today.
