Maybe we could all help support each other by challenging the use of what i call the 'failure' words - such as ONLY managed for example? Also if we don't do the things on our lists but do other things that still counts as positives
what you all think?
I'd maybe just concentrate on 'today I achieved....' - for me, 'only' is still a bit negative. Just my opinion
The word 'failure' should be banned! xBecame Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

Yes thats what i meant - i see only as one of those negative words too! so yes the words failure and only should be avoided?
I think its fine to have an idea of what it is we would like to get done in a day because that does seem to help us get things done - last time i used to use smilies to count up all the positives achieved in the month - maybe thats something we could use again? so each day we add a smilie for everything doneDebt at Aug 2010 (LBM) £21,908.86, Debt Freeeeee Date 4th Nov 2013 :j:j:j Massive Thanks to the £10 per day thread :A Next goals:Savings £1203.16/£10,000******Mortgage to Zero: £52,579.46 to go

Daft as it sounds the to do list for me has been extremely positive - a bit of a life raft in a stormy sea. Even though I only (sorry I used that word :silenced: ) managed 1 task yesterday I was still very positive as I was able to use it as a barometer as to just how ill I am at the moment. Up until now I have been kidding myself that everything has been alright.
So although I appreciate that many would focus on what they haven't achieved for me it has been the opposite. Every task completed is a brilliant moment
So would it be ok to keep my to do list please, anything I don't do doesn't matter, there's always tomorrow
Finally thank you for this thread - I am so enjoying it"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -

Yes of course TM - i think the to do list part does work in general, its the focus on the bits not done that i am highlighting as a potential demotivater for everyone.
How about we do a this is what i would like to get done list and a what i achieved list , marked as done or number of smilies etc? I know there are often things that i have done in the day that i hadn't thought of adding to my to do list! It is about finding what works for each of us personally isn't it? I was just trying to highlight the potential issue with the to do lists (and one that i have found really difficult at times myself) so we can help each other to not fall into that trapDebt at Aug 2010 (LBM) £21,908.86, Debt Freeeeee Date 4th Nov 2013 :j:j:j Massive Thanks to the £10 per day thread :A Next goals:Savings £1203.16/£10,000******Mortgage to Zero: £52,579.46 to go

So my things to try for today are:
remember to be here for a girl calling to collect something i sold on fb
collect some office stuff i have got from freecycle
pay mortgage
pay rates
lodge cheque i got in the post this morning
check postage rates for 2 fb sales
see if i can lodge some money out of my savings pot (need to see what i have in there)
things i've done already:
superpoints
swagbucks
mccains
jpj
unique rewards
maximiles
ordered eyes for teddy
ordered doggy pattern (for making stuff for animal charity auction)
decided not to go to sewing class which saved me £4.50 - usually a positive to go but i haven't got much to work on just at the minute so saving was a better option i think.
so thats 9for today already - i'm going to add up my positive steps for the month and add them to my siggy -

Hi Fairyclicks - I agree with you wholeheartedly about how this can turn from being a positive thread into a negative one and I for one am one of those who looks at the things I haven't achieved, rather than the things I have. So am on with you on this one and will too be counting my smilies for the month. Will go back over since I have joined this challenge and change my signature to reflect this.
I think this is a really good thread to help keep me positive and motivate and thank everyone for their support and ideas.
Today I have:
Cleaned van
Made stirfry for tea (which I haven't done for years) and it was lush:)
Had acknowledgement from Amazon saying that they have received the phone back that my OH ordered in error (£60 back to my account):)
Went to work (as I am self employed, am truly grateful for each and every appointment I get):)
Made a couple more appointments:)
So 5 smilies today for me :jWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying!:rotfl:

Now we are cooking on gas :j- seeing 43 smilies :)since I started this challenge last week has really given me a boost to see how much I have achieved rather than what I haven't - brilliant idea FC:TWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling.
