The cost of replacing the DPF with a straight-through pipe + blanking-off EGR + remap of ECU (although most cars don't need this) is soon recouped in the higher fuel efficiency of the vehicle.

I work with a chap who drives a TD5 Discovery. With the mods mentioned above, he has gained another 11 mpg.

As far as I am aware, TD5 Discoveries don't have a DPF. Some do have a cat though. It looks similar.

it's now been of for a few days, all the warning lights have disapeared from the dash, despite him not removeing the dpf from the ecu? so maybe no need to do it.already seeing improved fuel effeciancy of about 10% according to the onboard computer.
    will update again soon.
