CY - Yay! Well done on the bargain & the weight loss :D

The days are getting longer! :j:j I have taken the dog to the nature reserve, and got back at 4.30, just as it was getting dark. Couldn't have done that 2 weeks ago :) It was lovely over there - cold, bright, tide in, lots of flocking birds across the water & a lovely sunset :) Blows the cobwebs away! My face is all tingly now.

Just having a cuppa to warm up, and waiting for a call from DS to pick him up from town (been to the cinema). I still need to put everything back in the cupboards and make my bed (before bedtime!). DD2 is upstairs tidying her room :)

I have toothache - I know the tooth needs to come out but I was hoping to be able to have it done in HT but I don't think I can wait that long now.

Anyway, I need to sort the WM and TD out, do a HHI to make sure uniforms are ready for at least the next couple of days, shopping needs to be put away but I've asked DH to do that as it hurts to bend down, washing up needs to be done, etc. etc!

I suppose I'd better move and do something.

Catch you all in a bit.

oh:o I have The Lovely Bones to rehome and a few Kathy Reichs. If you want 'em I'll bring 'em to M'hell;)

    lazy day - DS's footy cancelled:D and we knew last night:Dfrozen pitch:cool:
but getting bits done. Sold a couple of things ion e bay which I have listed and relisted and relisted...:D

    Cycling - that's excellent!

switched out outside light and it blew...I'm getting a bit fed up of replacing blown bulbs...while I'm on about it can the energy saving lightbulbs be binned or do they have to be disposed of specially, and if so how?

oh FYI anyone - I made a bread and butter pudding from a (whoopsied) gluten-free fruit loaf. Not my most succesful B&B pudding so, unless you have to use gluten-free I wouldn't bother - or I would reduce the liquid. HTH someone.
(Only cost me 15p to find out;))

Valli - energy saving bulbs have to go to the tip as they contain mercury. You should take ordinary ones too, as they can recycle the metal :)

You might want to find out why so many bulbs are blowing. Did you replace them all at around the same time, or is it the same light fitting that is causing the problem.

Two loads of washing done, one in the TD, one on the airer (not good timing, it'll steam up the house, and the dehumidifier is filling up fast ATM anyway). One more load to do before bed if I have the energy.

Lots of thinking going on about the future and what I need to do now to start to get things in place. No housework, as there's no point in doing much while the work is STILL ongoing. When it's done, I'll have to take a few days off or enlist some help to do a deep clean!

did loads today - moved the LR around - so much dog hair caught under the sofa but all cleaned and l like the look of the room again. Washed the suite and cushion covers and a pair of curtans. Will do the other pair tomorrow. Mind you the rest of the house looks like someone has burgled the place :o(

I've hoovered the utility room, kitchen, dining room, living room and bottom stairs. I've eaten a frog and sorted out the hotspot outside the study door. I must declutter some of my bedding. I have swapped 2 single beds for doubles and have far too many single duvet sets. I must be ruthless. The bedding cupboard is overfull so it's got to go.

    That's fantastic Cycling Yorkie!

happy birthday hollyh and Hello sunnygirl :)

I have managed to spend most of the day looking for cheap doors and have not managed to find anything yet. The front porch door lost the bottom panel and the back lost the whole of the side panel in the storms. The house looks dreadful so luckily not many people come down our lane.

    Tomorrow's plan is to
    parcel up catalogue returns
    return Miele filters
    find a front door
price up roof and wall insulation
business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

    re the bulbs
DD's bedroom one blew (energy saving) been in a while though so not worried. Bathroom one blew - that was newish so I am hoping it was a faulty bulb - was also energy saving.
outside one - for a guess that one blew because it has been so cold -not an energy saving one - tried them outside but they weren't happy - sudden shock oif heat in cold glass I bet. Front door outside light - has been gone for some time - definitely a wiring fault as couldn't get it to work with a new bulb.
Little bulb in LR was a wall light - normal bulb - been in a good while
DR bulb that blew - light is on in there a lot (I haven't a study)
Tube light on unit - there are three; they seem to last about 18 months
and, of course, time of year means they are in use!

Someone did comment somewhere that they go more when it's cold. It shouldn't be so bad with energy saving bulbs as they don't get so hot.

I've recently changed the bulbs in the study and bedroom (only the overhead light) to biobulbs which look and feel like natural daylight. Ex-OH says they make him feel warmer, and they certainly make us feel more awake. They only come in 100W equivalent, so only the overhead lights, not table lamps. The real problem is that because they feel like natural light we seem to forget to turn them off more! And obviously, they're more expensive than ordinary energy-saving ones, but not as expensive as those used to be...

I'm using cheap old-fashioned energy-saving ones outside, but they don't work with the light-sensitive switches.

CBA to do anything... Am finally warm and having wine for supper...
