• Hi, joined the thread yesterday but so far, my cleaning has comprised of emptying the bins out yesterday! Problem is, i'm out most nights this week. I know once i get on top of things it will mean things dont take so long but does anyone have any tips/encouragement on how to get going.

I feel really pathetic about not being able to cope with cleaning and keeping a house but its really getting me down! I mostly need a kick up the !!!! so please kick away but im not very good at self motivation so any tips greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Stressful day for me today as the Sacking of the Cleaner took place this morning. I've got my keys back without any problem so am really quite pleased. Have done my hour of cleaning today and am going to put my feet up with a knitting magazine this afternoon!
Glad to hear it! It sounds like it was money down the drain paying her.

Greenbee thanks for the info on ferritin; I've had anaemia problems before - when I had part of my jaw removed, I was told they were giving me a blood transfusion after, because I was anaemic, but that was back in the mid 1980's. Sorry to hear you're single again.:(

Another one that doesn't have any of the rooms listed, so I've done the lounge.:o

Tuesday Study, Snug, family room, conservatory or similar
Lounge, then.
Level One
Clear the floor and hoover or mop
Done by Mr LW:A
HH Paperwork or decluttering in this room
Nothing to do of either! I downloaded another free Kindle book – does that count?:D
Level Two
Clean the windows
Done – nose-art removed;)
Wipe all the woodwork
Done all I can get to:o
Level Three
Hoover any soft furnishing and wash if needed
Done by Mr LW:A
Dust any shelves/bookcases
Done
Clean behind the desk or another item
Have to get Mr LW to help with this at the weekend; I can't move the furniture myself:( Done under Mr LW's desk, as it's actually an old dining table, so underneath is accessible;)
Extras
Have you lunch using your favourite bowl of plate with a linen napkin
We always use linen napkins! The ones in use just now were made by Mr LW's Mum:o
Sort that drawer/box where you stash the junk
N/A – I don't have such a drawer:p:p:p
Do you have out of date notes, recycling cards etc on the notice board? Bin them.
Notice board checked – everything on it is still relevant:o

Welcome:D

Read Toots welcome post which gives some pointers. The link is in Dusty's 1st post. Remember your house did not get messy in one week and it will take more than one week to sort it so baby steps or you will crash and burn.

A good place to start is to aim for level one each day of the first week or if it isn't doable because of clutter then clear some of that instead. Every week things will get easier.

And to prove it!! After 3 years on this thread I can say

Tuesday Study, Snug, family room, conservatory or similar

ALL DONE:j

I am rewarding myself with a toasted scone and a cup of tea:)

Then to do a HHI and catch up with Monday's extras

Yep do level one on today's list - that's what it's there for!

Short time before I do dinner and go out so I'm going to do 15 minutes in the family room and get the washing in.

Iron stores - low levels can be the cause of breathlessness, lethargy, tiredness, restless legs, hair loss, ridged or spoon-shaped nails, sores at the corners of your mouths etc. You know how I know... :p Obviously some of these things may be linked to your current condition/medication but its worth a check so PUT IT ON THE LIST (and lie and say a nutritionist suggested it, as they take them seriously, rather than saying a random nutter on an internet forum mentioned it!).

Just to let you all know I'm now single again, so will have more time for flying  And I'm off my food as a result, so making the most of it and hoping it'll mean I lose weight :D I blame the ex for me being lazy and getting fat over the last year... in fact, I guess I get to blame him for everything for a bit, just to help me get over him...

I second everything she says about iron levels - and what low ones can do to you! not nice!

Sorry to hear your news - in the posts I'd seen recently you weren't mentioning him so I did wonder....

Hopefully being single will mean that the only emotional baggage you will have to deal with will be your own.........

Yoy know where we are if you need to rant or wail - or both!

• Good afternoon :D

today I have put on the DW, been to toddler group, walked the dog with DH, made carrot & coriander soup, cleaned 2 toilets & 2 basins, put on beef stew for dins (nom nom - all for me as the kids won't eat it!! Although the freezer will get some too :)), hoovered through downstairs & most of the stairs (couldn't reach the last 3).

I have also sent a cheque into school with DS for clarinet lessons, and paid the 1st installment on my tuition fees (that hurt, as I don't get any support from either student finance or the LA :().

I think I will do some spuds, and then sit down tonight with paperwork and/or studying. can't be doing with anything physical in the evenings!! ;)

Greenbee - sorry to hear your news :( I hope you are ok. Was this on the cards, or was it out of the blue? (((hugs)))
